The New Court of the Archon can be bought for any Archon including Special characters but there is nothing in the rule or the unit entry I can find that says they have to be in the same unit as their Master? I had assumed they should do but nothing in RAW?

I thought it worked same as Space Marine Command squads but looking back at them can't see anything that says their Captain etc have to be in same unit either?

If they are not required to be with their Master - do they form a unit of their own?

I assume as they are not Independant characters they can't join other units? Can they be joined by non Archon special characters like Lelith or Urien?

Wondered about having a Lhamean and maybe some bodyguards on their own in a raider as she does not have to be in the same unit to give her Master 2+ poison? It says she grants 2+ poison to the Archon to which "she belongs".

any thoughts?

thanks

IC's cannot join units that consist of only 1 model

don't know about the rest as i havnt read the codex yet.

ok thanks - although 2 Lhamian and a Raider is only 80 pts so its tempting - though I think my 2000pts fist draft has already got 2 Ravegers, a Voidraven and 4 raiders.............a\nd there is room for the two ladies and their private transport

You are aware that the minimum court size is 4 (one of each)
with a minimum unit cost of 75pts without a raider?

If the thought of something makes me giggle for longer than 15 seconds, I am to assume that I am not allowed to do it.

That's correct... they're not a retinue, just a unit that is 'unlocked' for use by taking an Archon.

I thought it worked same as Space Marine Command squads but looking back at them can't see anything that says their Captain etc have to be in same unit either?

Yup, Space Marine Command squads in the current codex work exactly the same way. In the 4th edition codex, they were a retinue.

If they are not required to be with their Master - do they form a unit of their own?

They're a unit in their own right, yes. Nothing says that they can split off and work independently, so they would form a single unit.

I assume as they are not Independant characters they can't join other units? Can they be joined by non Archon special characters like Lelith or Urien?

Yes on both of those. They're not IC's, but other IC's can join them.

Yup, there is no requirement for them to be in the same unit. The Archon that you took to unlock the squad gains the poison effect.

So an IC cannot join another IC ?..

They can join other IC's, just not any non-IC unit that always consists of a single model. See the top of page 48 of the rulebook for details.
