Great picture.
I fail to understand the complex mechanics of this situation, so i offer it up to the scholar's on dakka to better educate me on this matter.
I did a tour of Northern Ireland as a young man, i read a few books on the topic of the troubles to try and understand my foe before i arrived. And i basically was under the impression that the real meat of the problem lay in the Protestan/Catholic issue dating back to some massacres literally hundereds of years ago, and not any "British Imperialism".
It hit me hard, it was my first tour as a 20 year old kid, and whilst the long arduous training i went through as a teen left me confident under pressure/fire and the mental and physical rigours, I was unprepared for the sheer unbridled hated that was directed towards me as a young man when i patrolled the streets there in South Armagh (Known as "Bandit Country" it is almost exclusively Catholic)
Women, kids, old ladies. Not a soul there seemed to be unhappy to call me "scum" or tell me to "feth off", and the men well.. you can guess.
I was twisted by this, and it took me many years to get over an entirely irrational hatred of "The Irish", i think i finally got over it after spending a week on the piss with a bunch of Irish lads while snowboarding in Austria.
Anyway, as a result of said experiences, i still feel passionately about this sort of thing. The Celtic fans seem to have a hatred of all things "British" that seems to transcend anything to do with the old troubles in NI, and a hatred that seems as passionate as anything you would see from a member of Hezbollah.
So my question is, really, what IS this all about? Why do these grievences last for so long? How did two Scottish football teams became embroiled in this issue? How did Celtic become Catholic, and Rangers become Protestant, even though its in the same City?
The whole issue confuses me utterly.

We are arming Syrian rebels who support ISIS, who is fighting Iran, who is fighting Iraq who we also support against ISIS, while fighting Kurds who we support while they are fighting Syrian rebels. |

Obviously the heritage of supporting the oppressive bloodstained regimes of Kaiser Bill and Hitler lives on in the minds of morons.

Yes but look at the pictures here, "morons" trivialises the issue because it suggests (at least to me) a minority.
Thats no minority, thats pretty much all of them.

Wasn't meant to trivialise so apologies. Quick google shows that the poppy is an other issue used to divide the communities. Had no concept of this. I find it very sad. My Great Grandfather was lost missing in action on the first day of the Somme offensive. Along with a lot of his pals. His company was effectively wiped out. The current conflicts are included in the message presumably just to have a dig at the British, and because the poppy Appeal helps out the vets. I can sort of see why they do this but am left cold by their lack of understanding. Lack of thinking, alas, is not a minority passtime. Unfortunately it tends to be more widespread than we like to believe. PS I am also a tad concerned why this should be happening now. Are they trying to stir up the old resentments? Guess ultimately I am also at a loss for why.

As it says hoops, it is clearly something to do with basketball.
It's not in Croatian, so it must be something to do with the USA.
Other than that I don't have a clue.

Well, essentially, they are spankers.
They wanted a fight, picked a side and stuck with it.
True story.

Hmm...I tried typing in spanker and the website turns it into spanker. Is spanker that bad of a word?

Self-pollution.
Wrestling with cyclops.
Seeing Madame Palm. Automatically Appended Next Post: Daft thing is, the Celtic fans clearly don't like the UK. So like all racists, I'd like to see them nick off to where they'd feel happier (such as, I dunno...Eire perhaps).
not only might they then lighten up a bit, but Glasgow's unemployment rate would drop, as they vacate jobs.

What annoys me about Celtic fans is that they can't pronounce Celtic. Gits.

Don't forget they are Scottish, so have a double axe to grind.

Live your life that the fear of death can never enter your heart. Trouble no one about his religion. Respect others in their views and demand that they respect yours. Love your life, perfect your life. Beautify all things in your life. Seek to make your life long and of service to your people. When your time comes to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song, and die like a hero going home.

Ha! Total coincidence, but I just 'liked' the British Monarchy facebook page, and my Aunt from Northern Ireland just posted this badly-spelt invective on my wall:
THE BRITISH MONARCHY ARE gak down wth the fethin lot of them
I think it's really funny that they hate the British so much, when without the money of the British tax-payer they would basically be Belarus with worse weather.
