Subject: Rhino conversion - inspiration needed

I've been converting up an old Rhino to look even more old and baroque and went with a high gothic arches feel. Here is my WIP so far:
I'll stick a bunch of stuff to the sides (exhaust, icons etc.) but otherwise I'm happy with them. I've also temporarily glued on the top and front so that you can get a feel for the overall look (when finished it will also have top hatch doors and a proper front rather than gaping holes). The problem is that I have no idea what to do what to do with the front of the top.
I came up with some ideas but couldn't think of anything that I loved the idea of. I could just make holes in the plastercard where the normal bolter turrets are and stick them back in, but I think that would look too plain compared to the rest of the conversion. Alternatively I could extend the top hatch arch much further down, and add something cool looking to the doors when I make them. I was also wondering about adding the land raider from the Black Templar sprue, but that also looked a bit odd. Anyway, lots of ideas but none of them seem just right.
Any ideas? I also need to name the thing!
Thanks in advance.

I dont really have any ideas, the tank looks great so far though. Almost like a rolling cathedral!

The only thing i could think of that would make it look even better, would be a steeple/tower thingy.....but that might be going to over the top for a Rhino....

love it very much , you should go full on ecllisiarchy with it , a moving gold leaf reliquary with saints bones inside, and twin cannons out of the front. lots of candles and stained glass. stck with the high gothic feel. and add bolts as well. look into kolne catherdral shrine of the 3 kings/Magi for inspiration.

maybe add a huge bell atop it like a bell of souls!!

Did you try to Google "Gothic architecture" for inspiration?

From a completely "general construction" perspective I think you want to have a clean separation between the front plate and the roof, the current "fold over" is bowing up and the edges are going to stress over time and that will show on the model even through the paint.
From a creative perspective try looking up Gothic cathedrals online, and also check out the old GW Epic Imperial titans, you'll find inspiration abound.

yeah, perhaps you could incorporate a few 'flying buttresses' on the tank!

Thanks for the ideas everyone. Googling just Gothic Architecture by itself gave too many generic results. I'm glad that you came up with some specific ideas.

I really like that idea, but where would they go? Sticking out from each side? I might buy the basilica administratum box and use those buttresses. It looks like it has several other Gothic Architecture bitz too.

The top was only very loosely stuck down so that I could add more detail underneath, but I think that I will follow your advice as folding the plastercard does not give a very crisp edge, ans it is beginning to stress the corners.

Stained glass? Have you seen this work ,and if so can you point me in the direction of an example/article? In fact, all those ideas sound awesome, can you elaborate?

I did see that, and I've been thinking over the weekend. I realised that I really like the idea of a reliquary so I am working on ideas to incorporate it, and Reliquary would even be a good name for the tank.
Thanks for your ideas!

just had a quick google on your behalf, there are some nice reliquary designs out there
i think the hardest part will be making that high gothic feel , but crenalations repeated ,and a few fluer de lyse would capture it easily, and you could print off some bliblical paintings , in royal blue and red to set it off. infact any pattern repeated would achieve a nice crenalation effect. good luck mate, and be sure to update with pics when done!

Hello, and welcome to the boards. For my superheavy, I looked at the Redeemer's Pulpitek and Kris Kuksi's Church Tank sculptures as well as the Sisters of Battle buildings from Dawn of War and general gothic architecture to try to find inspiration.
Looking at yours, I have a few comments. First, the two layers of arches on the front of the tank do not appear to match. Assuming you're using equilateral arches on the inner two, I would define the arc of the outer arch from a centre point on the same horizontal line as the centres of the two smaller arches.
The other thing I'd do is replace the horizontal roof with something more fitting to the architectural style. Something like the reliquary mentioned, possibly strengthed by buttresses to either side, would work.
