Now these Amazons are not as good as the plastic Amazons that exist only in my imagination and have unicorns and rainbows and want to have wild sex with Warhammer players but these ain't bad.

Quite feminine without being sexploitative. Not bad.
I especially love the long pike.

I only wish Wargames Factory would make plastics with sharper corners; it'd make their details more defined.

Additionally, I've never liked the thick chunk of plastic attached to the feet; it's a hassle to saw them off constantly.

Well is WF. Not appalled by the price, not shocked by quality. Bit more interested ATM for the orcs right now

I disagree, especially looking at them from the waist down. At best I would say they are merely not as sexploitative as they could have been.

These models have a lot of really nice things about them. I especially like the detailing on the back of the shield, something it doesn't seem we get much of in wargaming.

But it's like these Amazons came within sight of the mountain of awesome minis and then veered to the side and crashed into the ditch. They have a lot of great parts, but they just don't seem to work as a whole. The scabbarded xiphos looks far too large and doesn't appear to hang right. They put so much work into making the armour artificially skimpy that the helmets look over-sized by comparison. And what's the deal with that claw thing? Phalanxes/spear(wo)men fight in tight formation. That forearm claw looks like a sure way to hamstring the (ridiculously) unarmoured legs of whoever's guarding your right flank. I like the Phrygian cap helmet, but I'd almost prefer they had an an actual cap option since they seem to care so little about armour as it is.

I know I was part of the rant a few weeks ago about everyone trying to force other companies' minis into a GW context, but I honestly feel like these minis aren't good enough to be worth use as they were intended. I could see buying a sprue or two for bits to use for my Warhammer Fantasy conversions, but they just aren't what they could have been.

Um What exactly qualifies as sexploitive?

They have skirts that don't cover their butt cheeks.

The good news is that someone is finally releasing all-female plastic kits.

The bad news is that it's Wargames Factory.

Given how my attempt at communicating with them went, I think the best we can hope for is that this will encourage other, better manufacturers (AOW, Mantic and GW) to do the same.

GW seems to be attempting to do SoB at least. Wish they actually would make female guardsmen.

Speaking of sexploitative... wait, that's not an Amazon build?

Not bad at all. I plan on buying a set of these figures to turn into Blood Bowl Amazons, though from the looks of it I might need to track down some different arms in order to make them look dynamic and appropriately Blood Bowlesque.

aren't amazons supposed to have one breast according to the mythology? it'd be interesting to see if they paid homage to that and included one chest sculpted as such.

No, they didn't. They're only supposed to have one breast according to some Ancient Greek who made up a false etymology for the name and either didn't realise the "canon" (all previous artwork) proved he was wrong, or was just a misogynist. It's about as accurate as taking the joke about "politics" meaning "many blood-suckers" at face value, and thereby suggesting the Roman Senate was literally a Cabal of vampires.

No word yet other than a generic 'soon' with 3 kits coming out this month I would think they're a bit busy.

IIRC correctly no. It's a mistranslation of Greek. Besides it's not like that would sell.

I like how the chin strap looks to be about double the thickness of the breastplate.

I'm curious to see how effective the fully helmeted Hoplite style heads would be on Shock Trooper bodies. They look suitably large enough that they wouldn't look too out of place. With a proper color scheme it could make for an interesting elite unit. Similarly, I wonder if a Orc headswap on Great Coat bodies would produce an interesting savage alien sort of figure.

You, sir, are awesome.

I don't even feel the need to fly into a pedantic rant after reading that.

So why do the Spartans get the nipple armor but the Amazons get stuck with only cleavage?

Where's the fairness in that?

Because on the Amazons the armor is so thin-looking that if they had nipples they'd look like wet t-shirts?

I've never seen anything like the helmet on that Spartan before, but I bet he'd be great for cleaning out the insides of cannons!

Hey, those orks look fantastic... Fair different than other lines... They give me a feeling of oriental ogres/goblins...
Saddly, i will not buy then.

About the Amazons: they are sexpositive, that big but with small underwear show it...
But hey, who want (more) female figures without sexpositive options? It was enough with those deamonetes of slanesh...

I dont liked he helmets, they really look to big... I hope the unhelmeted models give more feminine heads...
I liked the 2 first models, as the two girls in undercoat infantry suit =D

They will be pretty nice to use in conversions, maybe i finally see a nice female farseer coming.
And ok, now, female marines will be easy to convert (at least if you think about the 10 cm of ceramite on those armors).

If my post show some BAD spelling issues, please forgive-me, english is not my natural language, and i never received formal education on it...

Perhaps people who realize that the daemons of a daemon god whose titles include "The Prince of Pleasure" and "The Lord of Dark Delights" should be sexplotative, but enjoy having female models that don't look as if a light breeze catching their skirt will put them in violation of indecent exposure laws?

Simply put, WGF had an opportunity to make realistic, respectable-looking female models. Instead they give us this trash. I've liked WGF in the past, but as long as they keep cranking out bad computer-generated sculpts that look like they're melting with how soft the detail is, they're not getting my money.
