Hi,

quick question that we are all ways unsure of. When you disembark from a drop where is the two inches measured from? is it the central foot print or from the edges of the flaps after they have opened?

Cheers for your input.

Most folks ignore the doors/flaps.

There is some room for debate, but if you count the doors/flaps as hull (which would let you disembark with 2" of them) it makes the model have a huge footprint--which causes some other issues as well.

I measure only from the cenral area. On my next DP's, I am making it so the doors are simply removable once it lands. They do indead cause endless ploblems.

we've always measured from the hull spines or the base but not the doors.

NOT the doors/hatches.
You don't measure from there from any other vehicle, so why start now?

I measure from the hull which includes the wings (the long vertical pieces). The doors are opened when the pod lands but are ignored for all game purposes from that point onwards.

From the small footprint is the only reasonable option. If you modeled your rhino doors to open your not allowed to use the ramp edge for the start of your 2in

pretty sure that INAT ruled that the hull is the only thing truly "on the board". the doors are ignored for all gaming purposes.

Enemy tanks can even drive over them with no problems. If it didn't look so stupid, I would just leave the doors off when modeling them.

If I rigged up my Rhino, Razorback or Land Raider so the doors were down would you let me deploy 2" from the farthest edge of the door?

No you would not.

Measure from the hull of the drop pod as if the doors/petals were not there.

just noticed edweird ninja'd me on this

I don't think it counts as ninja'ing if you're beaten by 12 hours

So nothing happens even if when they open they come into contact with something?

nope, nothing happens, we've left certain doors closed if they could open due to terrain or models or even repositioned other models on top of the doors.

damn the doors!

This is why I love the design of some of the scratchbuilt dreadclaw chaos drop pods... like this one from the P&M blogs. http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/249658.page

When a friend of mine uses his DPs has them disembark from the fins with his models usually on the ramps, using the ramps to represent the 'fluff', other then that they are ignored the whole game.
