Is it possible for a space marine to have his gene-seed extracted and have another one placed inside him while he is still alive?

If I remember the fluff. The gene seed is placed during puberty, so that it bonds with their DNA. So I think it wont work due to the fact that it may be like giving a person with type O blood type A+ blood. Again dont quote me though.

No its not, the Progenoids zygotes has are best placed in the 16-18 age gap. Although it would be much better if they could, just think how many geneseeds a space marine like Dante could produce.

actually, a Mature Marine can have one of his progenoids extracted. the other will begin to replace the lost progenoid.
Progenoids can also be multiplied inside a host human who has been genetically engeneered to do this. 1 will split into 2.
the process is long and slow, but over time a few marines can make many more.
nowhere does it say this exactly in the fluff, but if you read Codex SM very carefully in the implant section you will notice it says a Mature Progenoid can be extracted and used to make more marines and so a chapter relies on its marines to make more, it doesn't say it has to involve the death of a marine. indeed, relying on a marine to make a marine wouldn't make any sense if it had to involve the death of one.
many chapters have lost the live extraction tecnique, but Geneseed can be replicated outside of the Marines body. Chapters are required to send Geneseed samples to Terra every so often to check for Genetic purity.
so to answer your original question. a marine could get another set of genes placed inside, but they wouldn't because 1) his other progenoid would replace the lost one, and 2) a different set of genes(each is similer, but not identical) could cause problems.

You have missed the entire point of the question
space marines start with 2 Progenoids zygotes, one is ready after 5 years, the other after ten (absorbing the genetics of the other zygotes creating a geneseed). What he asked was whether a marine can have more than 2 Progenoids zygotes replacing the ones that are extracted, so that one marine can produce 20 geneseeds in 100 years. but they can't as the Progenoids zygotes have to be added to the recruit before they are fully adult.
Grey Templar wrote:nowhere does it say this exactly in the fluff.
Index Astartes, p6, section: founding new chapters - quite clearly describes the process of using the geneseed formed by the mature Progenoids zygotes and the forming of the zygotes from them.
