Veteran Wolf Guard Squad Leader

Morning,

Just reading through the thread concerning technology going backwards in the 41st millennium and the thought struck me how did the Ultramarines come to embrace the new technology that was the razorback? If one reads all the Ultramarines novels one can see that the Ultramarines are very resistant to anything that changes the teachings of the Codex Astartes since even a small deviation can lead to the deviance of some other chapters (I can't remeber the name of the chapter in question but it is a clear example). The Razorback was not invented when Girlyman wrote the BRB so how did the Ultras come to accept it. Common sense doesn't work as an argument as it would be common sense for Tactical Squads to carry 2 meltaguns for certain missions rather than a heavy weapon and a special weapon. Any ideas or discussion?

The LRCrusader wasn't widely used until the BT brought it into vogue. Occasionally, tactical application trumps ideological strictures, but it always takes time.

as i recall the predator destructor which didn't take sponson weapons could transport 5 marines. so maybe the smurfs saw the razorback as a way to free up some of their predators?
