I've been playing Dawn of War Dark Crusade and Soulstorm, and i decided to visit that terrible game called Dawn of War 2. But now i remember why i don't play that game anymore, and that reason is that there is a ridiculous problem with my lag and ping and i just don't know what it is. Anyone have a solution?

Solution: edit the thread title so people know you have a question, not an answer.

I'm sure responses like that will get you the answers you're looking for.
Totally doesn't make you appear as a douche to strangers or anything.

There are several things that could be causing it, from crappy net connection to the hardware you have yourself.

Delete system 32, speeds up your computer a ton, and you unlock a cool font!

You mean open notepad type in
"@echo off
del c:\windows\system32"
and save it as lagfix.bat and running it before the game?
I'm not sure he should be getting awesome advice like this.

Now that's out of the way, you should probably try manually realigning your hard drive. After a lot of use your hard drive can get out of sync with itself, causing slowdown. You can realign the layers using a magnet of sufficient strength - swipe it over the hard drive several times in one direction. This should get you back up to speed.

Wow, so much sarcasm. I know his question is ridiculously vague and has about a million different solutions that may or may not help, but why all the hate? Is it because he's a Ravens fan?

Mainly it's because he was rude.

It's because trying to fix your computer is heretical technosorcery and must be punished.

Also details would help, for exmaple DoW2 was slow as hell for me then I switched from Comcast to Verizon and it was all better. Could be anything really and possibly not even computer related.

Get a better internet service.

Reduce your graphical settings.

Get a better computer.

Only play with friends who are within the same city/region as you.

Well, how fast is your connection?

Mine is, for example, a 100Mbps connection. That is, 100 megabits per second (not megabytes, for some reason they like to confuse customers this way). This is a good speed for a DSL connection.

100Mbps? Wow! Is that "up to" or is that actually measured?

Check out http://www.speedtest.net/ for an actual measurement of your connection. I'm currently at 27 Mbps download and 6 Mbps upload, and that's pretty decent.

That's the official listed speed at any rate. The actual measured speed is closer to 700 kilobytes / second (or 5.77 mbps) with a 0.95 mbps upload speed.

Which is actually about twice as fast as the average for my ISP apparently. Yay me.

5.77 mbps???? How do you even prevent timing out of everything at that speed???

(I'm teasing a bit because of "m" for milli and not "M" for mega. I know it's obvious what you meant, but it is important to get those capitals correct! It's the difference between bit and byte.)

I know. I meant megabits, as that's what that website you linked to measures in.
