*Note about Judges: All participants be advised: all judges rulings are final. This applies to rulings during games as well as all
matters of health and safety.
We're out to win and kick ass! At its heart though, the tournament is about having fun. So don’t be a git! In other words do
your best to win, but win nicely. Anyone not adhering to these principles may be asked to leave the tournament without refund.

Army Selection
No more than 1850 points may be used in the selection of an army. Only the main army lists may be used for the army in
question. No appendix lists are permitted. Special Characters are permitted, subject to the normal restrictions for that character in the Codex. Only armies listed in the Approved Army Lists section may be taken. Any armor, weapons and upgrades must be modeled
on the miniatures (WYSIWYG). Models should start the tournaments fully assembled. Models breaking are a part of the game, but models that are not fully assembled at the beginning of the tournament should not be used. Forge World models are permitted in the tournament but they can only be used to represent models from existing Codex list. No Forge World rules are allowed.
Battles
The tournament will consist of three games of Warhammer 40,000 for each player. The 5th Edition Rulebook will be in use for all games and will be the definitive guide for all rules. The time limit for each game is 2 1/2 hours (150 minutes). At the end of this
time limit, time will be called and all games must be finished immediately. No additional time will be provided. Note: do not begin a round unless there is ample time for both players to receive their turn! In each game, players will play a scenario. Each scenario will have a list of special rules and other information. Players will be informed at the beginning of each round as to what scenario will be used.
Scoring!
There are a possible 72 points that you can earn per tournament. Base battle points should be determined
by the chart below:
Result--Winner--Loser
Massacre--20--0
Major Victory--17--3
Minor Victory--13--7
Draw--10--10
Parameters to determine the base battle points will be explicit in each scenario. In addition, each scenario will have up to four (4)
additional battle points possible. These will be listed in order from easiest to hardest to achieve. Pay strict attention to the scenarios. You don’t want to be the guy who demolishes his opponent and fails to gain any objectives!
The Loot
The winner of the event will receive one token redeemable for all their wildest dreams- As long as those dreams revolve around an 1850 pt. army* of their choosing.

Greetings and a question:
Would consistent "Counts as" models be sufficient? Specifically, DE just came out. I've not yet played them, and am just now getting through the codex. The Venom looks like a smexy transport, but there isn't a model for it; I have the old raiders - if the only vehicles in my army are the old raiders and I use them as "counts as" venoms, would that be acceptable? I have conversion ideas and have started looking to acquire Vypers, but none of this will be done before the tournament date. ><

I couldn't see it being a problem, but I suggest asking our TO to confirm beforehand. Just pop onto our forum and ask him in the topic

Looking forward to meeting some folks I haven't met before and getting in some games; although I definitely wish it were on Saturday because the drive back Sunday night is going to suck donkey balls.
Still undecided about which army to bring; I'd love to bring DE but they impress me so much less than the old codex, and will IMHO auto-lose against certain other armies. I've been dusting off my orks and cramming kans together.

Alan Blakeborough won and got an 1850 army of his choice.
My Dark Eldar picked up two massacres and got massacred once - my game two was against Alan - kill points, pitched battle. I won the roll to go first, deployed accordingly, salivated at his deployment choices, and then he stole the initiative from me. ><
It was a turkey shoot from there with all my AV10 open-topped sadness.
General feedback:
1. TO was great - decisive, dicator, still friendly - very knowledgeable about the rules, easy to ask questions of, ready to make a decision, and brooking no arguments with his decisions.
2. Store was pretty good too - roomy, spacious, non-stinky; only a single bathroom, but there weren't 40 people competing for spots - and it is also a cafe / diner in one; the only downside was that when I ordered some food, they had no eggs or sausage left, and I went hungry. *sniff*
3. Perhaps in future years, you should take preregistration / payment - I'd been told ahead of time that Giga-Bites was famous for people dropping / not showing, and I know you guys were disappointed that it affected prize support; 10 people not showing up ($250 worth of entry fees) hurts. Why not a $25 pre-registration fee, and $30 the day of, with no reservations being held? IE, the only way you get a reserved spot is to pre-pay. Paypal, etc.
4. I know that you guys want to hold it on Sunday because its less busy than Saturday, but for a once a year, what should be a mega-tournament - why not shuffle your Saturday/Sunday schedule? People would be more willing to travel for a Saturday event, letting them get home on Sunday. You could probably bring in 40-50 people, or however many tables you can support. In fact, winning an 1850 army might be a good start to a possible Atlanta area GT starting. A lot of potential there, just the timing of having it on Sunday is brutal for anyone who isn't a local.
Thanks, and I hope that time and circumstance allow me to come next year to try redeeming my failure to win today!

3 & 4 sound smart. For a big-prize event like this, you should be able to take pre-reg. pre-reg also commits people and makes them less likely to drop on you last minute.

Justin, glad you were able to attend and had a good time, even with being seized >< we love getting people from afar to out events and like even more when we get good feedback from it. I like your ideas, I would love to do the event on a Saturday to attract more people and hope next year and the year after we can get bigger numbers, though by the. I would need a bigger store to fit everyone, sadly at the moment it came to simple economics, we could not afford to lose the high revenue our weekends bring in, I wish it could be different but as a store we need to keep the doors open it is a great jump off to begin considering a GT size event and I would love to begin Lookin into a large weekend event, send me some ideas if you got some for it.
As regards the dropouts, I'm saddened to hear we seem to have a rep for drop outs, thoug I was seriously annoyed by the fact ALOT of our drop outs today were local players and will be starting a pre reg in future events to stop it. It was my bad and I think I trusted a fe w to cone that I should have known better not to.
Finally, and most important, I'M SORRY I ran out of eggs and sausage, I felt bad that you had to go without, cause our breakfast sandwiches are AWESOME, next time I promise I'll make you one on the house.
Glad to hear you liked the TO, he's a good guy though I did have a few choice words when I lost round 3 by killing too many of the enemy it can be tough to get a good organizer for events and I think we looked out there. Anyway hope to see you at future events and good luck on your move

You should've tried the turkey-club. It's ridiculous.
And, David, you didn't win the third?? When I left, it looked like you were about to kill the last of his TWC. I figured you for a lock on that one.
Wish I could've played yesterday, but I had promised to take a friend and her kid out to see Narnia.

yeah I thought I was as well, wiped out the TWC and got into a combat vs 2 units of Long Fangs and one unit of Grey Hunters with a unit of Sternguard and Pedro, beat the crap out of the without taking a loss and they all ran, but the objective for a major victory was holding more objectives and LESS Killpoints, so he contested the one I was on, captured mine, and the fact of him LOSING three units on turn 6 meant he got a major :( Silly 2008 Ard Boyz scenario

its the only way I can without getting beaten up by her! I didn't have high hopes anyway going into the tournament, though I was delighted how my army played, there are too many great players in Atlanta and the surrounding areas that come to play

Let me try again then.
Well, the folks who accuse me of being a raging snarling internet monster are generally thin-skinned, over-preened clique-jerking dicks, so it all balances out. I don't think I've met any in the Atlanta area, but you wouldn't want to try gaming in the store where I live. Not that I do either since I'm banned from it. But their last tournament had a special rule, "No one who has won previous events is allowed to play." Some of my friends got together at another friends' house and gamed instead.
