I started playing orks last year and i have been having alot of trouble winning dawn of war games, especially against tau.
I just recently lost a game against tau because all he had to do was stay on his side of the map and shoot me down while i tried to get closer. I have no trouble beating him in any other game type, but i just cant seem to ever come close to a victory during DoW.
So i'm asking you, dear Dakkadakka, how do i beat tau in DoW

Battlewagon with Gaz+meganobs start at the 24" line, the rest of your force (mounted in battlewagons) roll on in turn 1 = lots of dead tau very fast

or even better:

Biker Boss + 20 nob bikers start all along the 24" line, if you have 1st turn, you win
(if you have second turn you still probably win)

What kind of army are you using? It would help as the tactics are very different depending on what you have. For starters you want several 30 man boyz squads. A KFF is a must. And Snikrot will make many tau players stay off their board edge.

My list was as followed :

Wazdakka

Big mek w/ KFF

Elites

Burnas x11

burnas x12

Kommandos w/ snikrot

Troops

Shoota boys x 30
Nob w/ PK and Bp

Shoota boys x 30

Warbikers x 6
Nob w/ Pk and bp

Warbikers x 6
Nob w/ Pk and bp

Trukks x2
RPJ
Grot riggers
Armour plates

Fast Attack

Stormboyz x 15 w/ Zagstrukk

Thats the list i used, Although i didn't really like it. I had wrote down a list before hand but when i got to the game, i had misplaced it so i had to rewrite it very fast and ended up with that. I know many people would think of it as a bad list, but i wrecked my friend a few days before in a pitched battle game with a similar list.

As for what i want, that pretty diverse

I want tips on what would be very useful against tau in a DoW game. I have quite alot of boys(150), and enought of everything to make at least two solids units.

Would Nob bikers be a good choice against tau?

line up as close as possible, DoW is 1/2 board deployment zone must be 18+" away from opponents 1 hq 2 troops may be deployed

you should be able to easily get in there and rush him

The list IS fast, I'll give you that. But your problem isn't as much about the units you took as it as the fact that other than some moderate anti-infantry shooting, you aren't doing anything to your opponent until you charge him.

You don't need to be able to kill a land raider from 48" on turn 1. But stunning/immobilizing/wrecking a couple transports a turn from range will make it MUCH more difficult for your opponent to just redeploy and shoot you AGAIN.

I don't care how you get that shooting in there, but it needs to be in there. Rokkit buggies, lootas, rokkit deffkoptas, kannons are just a few suggestions to look in to.

Feel free to PM me to talk about your list ideas....

Two 30 man boyz mobs and the Big Mek right up on the half line spread out so you can multi-assault. Got 24" max to cross you should be assaulting turn 2. That's just pure win versus a Tau army.

Off topic your list is illegal you can't just buy trukks and you can't get a trukk if your boyz unit is over 12.

As was pointed out, you need to fix your list so it is legal. It appears you bought the Trukks so you can put your Burnas in it.

For Dawn of War; if you had first turn, set up the Warboss on bike and biker unit at midfield and try to get a good multi assault on turn 1 or turbo boost and set up a turn 2 assault.

Snikrot helps in those occasions where your opponent just sits on the other side of the table. Not sure how many you took but if you're getting short on points, drop Zagstrukk for a normal Nob. I can't see how Deep Striking this unit ever really works out well. Snikrot and a good number of Boyz can get into the back ranks and stop things like Broadsides and/or Hammerheads. Pretty much anything you assault will be trouble as they are Tau.

If you really like utilzing big footslogging Ork units, take a look a Mad Dok Grotsnik. Attach him to one of your 30 strong boyz units and upgrade them to have Cybork bodies for 5 points each. They can withstand lots of small arms fire. It'll get to the point your opponent will have to fire anti tank guns at Boyz to have any real affect. This can give the rest of your army the time it needs to close in on a Tau army.

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby.

I try to always have about a third of my army able to damage the enemy on turn one. Most of the time I opt for shooty things, but with dawn of war this might not be as useful.
