Both are great lines, but the DKoK line is much more complete, and I personally like the aesthetic more. Additionally, Elysians are sorta pidgeonholed into drop/troop airborne lists, while the DKoK background states they field pretty much everything but drop troops, so they can work for almost any list.

Personally I'd go with (and did) the Death Korps.

That said, you really can't go with either as they both are really great.

The correct pronunciation is Imperial Guard and Stormtroopers, "Astra Militarum" and "Tempestus Scions" are something you'll find at Hogwarts.

Personally I don't like the look of the DKOK - too grim dark for me and reminds me of unpleasant times with reparators and cs gas in the army. I really liked the whole aesthetic of the Elysians and want to do a company of them to be the airborne wing of my IG regiment.

I would just go for what you want to paint after all painting guard can be soul destroying Elysians should have a drop troop feel but just look at the para troopers in band of brothers they drop in and then fight as a regular unit. Our own parachute regiment aren't even allowed to parachute into Afghan because expected casualties would be too high so don't feel stuck to an airborne theme just because that is what their specialism is.

Do you have a list idea in mind? Specifically what sort of units do you want to include?

Death Korps look the coolest, but I preffer Elysians just because they are all basically stormtroopers at heart.

Plus those mortar teams look fantastic!

Well did you want to go tank heavy, infantry gunline, mechanized, skimmerspam, or something else?

If you want to go very infantry heavy (which is totally viable) or a mix of infantry/heavy vehicles. If you want to go with lots of valks/vendettas, or a footslogging veteran list (I'd advise against that on a competitive basis though) I'd go Elysians. If you want to go mechanized, either can work visually rather well.

Also the IA:V DKoK siege regiment list is up for free on the FW site if you want to DL it. Check out IA:8 if you can for the Elysian special army list. Both are interesting.
