I have the Space Marines Battleforce and I'm thinking about putting melta bombs on some of my assult squad. These things are huge! They look like 2 liter bottles of pop. Where do you put them on the model?

Also - are melta bombs worth using with an assult squad?

Thanks in advance,
Oriphus

I found you can snip the chainsword off one of the straightened out arms and then snip a little bit of of the meltabomb handle itself then glue said meltabomb to the hand, sort of like a thermite lunchbox if you will

Melta Bombs are more effective than Power Fists against immobilized or stunned Walkers, and make immobilized vehicles die pretty well. They're also good against bunkers. However you're going to need a reliable plan for immobilizing those targets if you're going to get the most out of them.

Clip down some arms and put them gaks in the hand of a guy....model the arm position to make him look like he's about to toss it at a tank. Win.

The meltabomb goes on the enemy vehicle!

I use them pretty much to fill up points if I'm a bit shy but haven't had many chances to use them in game...I go pretty melta heavy a lot of times so it is rare that I haven't already popped a vehicle from a distance. As for modeling them, if you're concerned about having all of his gear represented, you would have to have it maglocked on his leg (I know it is pretty large for this). Personally, I don't place them on my models, but I also don't play tournaments were this would be a problem.

I don't like actually putting them 'on' the model. But for tournament WYSIWYG I've made up a bunch with the top part replaced with a magnet... then I just put a magnet under the base and have the bomb at the models feet for when he needs it.

I didn't realize they were meant to be held, but judging by their size I should have known better. I don't know if it's worth it since I only have 1 assult squad so far. I think I'd almost rather have chainswords and bolters.

glue it in the most inappropriate place possible, for instance, directly onto the groin of the marine, or as a giant nose on the marines face

What I do is use a bolt gun arm, specifically the arm which holds the underside of the barrel and then put the handle over the top. The picture below shows the varient melta bomb, but the method is totally applicable to the regular ones! Plus if you post the running legs well he can look like he's about to chuck it.

The USS Orinoco was a Federation Danube-class runabout that was in service with Starfleet in the late 24th century, attached to Deep Space 9. It was outfitted with a sensor pod.

I just glued one on in the general vicinity of my sarge's belt. Between that, the storm shield and the power fist, it's a wonder his jump pack gets him off the ground.
