Dynarth Lysander is supposed to have received his weapon on from Captain Kleitus who teleported into rock (bad day at the office). Now, if you teleport into rock you must teleport into a you shaped hole by definition? therefore you wouldn't be killed and all they would have needed to do is break out of the rock (duh they are in power armour?) or is it the case that they "Merged with the stone?". It doesn't make any sense does it? Your thoughts Dakka?

I think its the latter, seeing as if teleporters worked terminator-style (the movie) then old Kleitus wouldn't have had a problem as you already surmised.

Teleporting breaks you apart at the molecular level in order to transport you at near speed of light. If you teleported into a rock, your melecules would either take up the sapce between the existing molecules or disperse the rock molecules around, quite violently too.

But if you take an atom its 99.9999% space anyway. The real equation is does the materiel shifted return in a stream to the point of origin or is it just destroyed (Impossible) and shifted away.

I think he would be merged with the rock, because it breaks up molecules in order to travel, then the molecules would reform in the places where the space wasn't condensed, thus scattering them out.

If transports you via warp, then the warp opening would obliterate the rock and possibly anyone teleporting there.

IvanTih has it exactly right, teleportation sends an object or person through the warp. If accidentily teleported into a solid object then whatever was teleported merges with that object and is utterly destroyed.
I forget the name of the story now but it onvolved a squad of terminators, Ultramarines I believe, and one of them ends up in a mountain and is instantly killed.

What happens to air when you telleport in to a space ocupyed by it? I would have thought that it went into the warp. If so then I assume that rock that you telleporting into must go into the warp, leving you alive, but inside a rock.

If you merge with the atoms in the space you occupy after you come out from Teleportation then the Air, or gas molecules you occupy would merge with your own mass of atoms too....What about a vacuum? Would nothing therefore happen as there are no atoms there? Pseudo-Science is way superior to normal science.

Air is displaced when something is teleported into it, however, air is much much much easier to displace than rock, personally i see it as, if you teleport into a rock, then only parts of you may actually make it into it, an arm here a leg there etc etc.

I'd suggest something similar. Displacing 200 litres of air might be fine, or displacing 190 litres of air and 10 litres of dirt if you aim a little low, but the safeties might not be able to handle 200 litres of rock, leading to a partly dematerialised patch of rock with a telefragged terminator in it.

Surely due to the frequent disaster of Deepstriking, no Space Marine Chapter would have any terminators in their arsenal they would all be inside moutains, at the bottom of the ocean, in the core of the planet etc, etc.. Especially given how rare and unique these suits of armour are, (The Imperial Fists would definitely have zero suits!) plus how do the GREY KNIGHTS get round this and always land on target?

I'm willing to bet its because they have a more advanced method of initiating the teleport than 2d6 and a scatter dice.

Bounding Ultramarine Assault Trooper
|
The vast majority of any object is nothing (it appears to be solid because the wavelength of visible light is wider that the gap between the atoms). What forces two objects apart is electromagnetism - if you stand on some rock, both the rock and your feet are displacing one another because they have electromagnetic force pushing them apart. The force of your feet and the rock are greater than any other force acting upon them (such as gravity).
If you teleported into rock, both the force of yourself and the rock would try to displace one another. Whichever had the strongest force would win (protip - the rock wins). You would be placed under great pressure, enough energy to turn you into pressurised soup. Eventually you would become more dense than the rock, and the rock would take the remaining energy. If the rock couldn't displace that energy (if it was too small or too rigid) it would fracture.
Which is a long-winded way of saying what was already said - you'd get smushed but good.

why would you worry about displacement in a vacuum, there isn't anything to displace, as for air its a gas so can move, as gasses are free to do so, a mountain on the other hand is pretty fixed so can't move out of the way,
and as Commander Endova said game mechanics and fluff don't go hand in hand (models aren't the right size, armies can have a ton of rare weapons, ect)

Even in a normal atmosphere it needs to displace or destroy the atmosphere that would be in the same volume as the terminator, or they'd simply die of something similar to decompression sickness.
