Okay, I am in a 1500 point straight 6 week long tournament and I would love my heart out to win it. For the reason as I owe a great deal of money to the shop haosting and I would love a few great lists and the tactica to go along with them

Greece

The way I see it you have four main options:
Kan Wall
Over all the most balance list. You can fit in alot of vehicles (Kans and warbuggies), alot of footsloggers(at least 60 boys) and some pretty mean shooting (lootas, warbuggies, kan rokkits) This list has great survivability and can perform well in almost all situations. Cons: You start taking hold of the game on turn 3 or 4 so if you a pressed for time you may have trouble. Also Dawn of war is a bummer trying to get everything to fit in where it should.

Mechanized
Very strong list capable of tabling most opponents. Hits hard and fast and ends most games turn 2. Cons: depends heavily on the status of 3 Battlewagons. If you loose 2 or get them immobilised on turn 1 or 2 you will probably loose. Otherwise you win

Horde
This is a list I don't play much, though I have seen it played to great effect. 150 Boys Gazghkull a Mek maybe and a few lootas. This list also has good survivability but has to get into CC in order to do anything and suffers alot on mobility. Cons: Template and cover ignoring weapons run wild with this setup, fast armies can avoid the mobs till late game and speed bumps cause trouble. More time consuming than the Kan wall as well

Nob bikers
Never used them and have an intese dislike of them (fluffy reasons). Their power though has been proved tenfold. At this point level they will take up almost all your army and there will be matchups where you are helpless (IG 4 Lascannon Vedettas 2 manticores, anything with Str 8+ Ap4+ blast plates). If it appeals to you and you can play them well thenyou should be able to win many of your matchups

I always prefer the mechanized list. Specifically I have about 2/3 of my points going to troops, since 2/3 games are capturing objectives. Mech lists will generally get you the charge on turn 1 or 2 and if you play smart you can generally get the charge.

Monarchy of TBD

I realize I'm a bit of a heretic, but I cannot say enough good things about a scoring unit of 10 Meganobs in a battlewagon. It may mass over 600 points, but it is durable and as nasty as they come. Besides, only one of them needs to survive to keep on scoring. That unit will serve you very well as the centerpiece of any mechanized Ork force.

Im a big fan of mega nobs too. I wouldnt run them in a big ass unit like that, but I also use mine for krumping tough guys( basically a mini death star I guess). I can see how having 10 in a BW holding an objective would be badass. Those guys are as tough as they come in all honesty.


Id say Kan walls are probably the most durable, and they pack enough anti tank/anti IC to go the distance. Its not as fast as BW spam or the like, but can shrug off attacks a hell of alot easier.

I absolutely agree. A Kan wall is probably the most reliable and versatile Ork build. A BW rush will lose if it doesn't reach the enemy, and win if it does. Either way, it will be over very, very quickly.

I don't think very highly of it. You have no concept of a theme for this list, and that is how Orks win games.

You have smashed all the builds together into one disparate heap of junk. Pick a build and stick with it if you want to be competitive.

There are some basic ork rules.

Boyz before Toyz.

Never rely on 1 of anything, 1 trukk, 1 battlewagon, 1 deffkopta, we are at the core a horde army and because we have cheap units should take more then 1 to do the job.

Most army building focuses around the need for 2 things boyz and KFF and every boyz squad should have a nob with a boss pole and power klaw. Also trukks have their places but 12 boyz is just not enough in my opinion, you are wasting a troop slot that would be better off used with 30 shoota boyz on foot.

Also Grotzookas are awesome but your list needs some anti tank and rokkits maybe better here, Grotzookas are great if you have more then 1 unit of kans with rokkits already but they are for anti horde and your boyz are the best horde unit out there, your boyz should have no trouble dealing with IG and 'nids or whatever horde spam comes at you.

19x Gretchin + Runtherd

Fast Attack: 3x Deffkopta + Buzzsaw and TL Rokkits

Heavy Support: 3x Battlewagons


Mechanized with 80+ boyz. Fairly Competitive too.

The last list is OK except you dont need ghazghull as much and you definitely dont want to mix in a Battlewagon. The theory behind the "theme" idea is that you use troops with synergy. 1 Battlewagon does not have a synergy with walkers or footsloggers..
Apart from that ard boys are not worth the points in this list. For most of the game the boys get a 4+ cover save and in melee its better to have more boys with attacks and wounds the fewer with an armor save.
I'll write a couple of list for you see if you like them

2x 2 Warbuggies with RL (or kitted deffkopta)

3x3 Killer Kans with Rokkits

3x3 Killer Kans with Rokkits

Both of these lists are 1500 and should be capable of winning most of their games. Tweak accoding to your personal taste/style
