I love the lone gobo on the back of the spider; makes it look oddly more menacing! I love the new watermark also! Really nice and clever design!

Thanks guys!
Tomorrow I will post my latest commission, another gigantic creature. I used almost as much greenstuff has the Rock giant.

Whoa, that's a seriously scary slug. It looks great - and super realistic. (My youngest son loooves slugs and snails, so I spend a lot of time looking for/at them).

He as no chance, yet somehow he manages to escape and make its way to another nasty monster. I have been using this fella for scale purposes for years now so he is clearly quite good at getting away

Maybe this will be a good project to iniate your son into painting some miniatures? Thank you Sir.

Much appreciated Januine.
So still in slug mode here and I really want to sculpt some medium sized hell slugs, these are some of my concepts on paper.
Which one(s) to sculpt is yet still to be decided. Really hard to choose!
Ideas and suggestions are welcome Dakkaites.

Love the third pic, and the one in the center of the last! I think the bumps / spikes on the back of the last one should be carried through the others, rather than the very smooth back section shown on some. It makes it seem more complete, whereas if it's smooth I keep looking for a snail shell to be added
Very cool concepts!!

I'm with RiTides about the lack of shell somehow seeming like 'uncompleted snail', but I undestand that Slugs do look like that- maybe it's just a difference between the drawing and how the actual full-model texture would look.
Though having one that's super-duper ueber smooth might be interesting.

I favor all of the slugs in the group pic, or the first slug + some spikes. Not really a fan of the tentacle eyestalks on slug 2 and 3, prefer the quasi-realism of 1.
Mmmm, quasi-realism ...

I think it would even scare the birds and cats Just got news that it reached Otherworld studios safe. So it will be up to them for how long it takes to cast . I will keep you posted.

Thanks! Im a fan of the spikes too myself.

I think if in the end I sculpt a few of them I can do some with and without spiky bits.

Quasi- realism I never heard that one before but I love the sound of it
I see what your saying its always hard to achieve a good balance between fantasy and realism.

Just finished working my way through this thread. Love your models & bases, and looking forward to seeing more slugs (also - never imagined that would be a phrase I would ever use....).
I coincidentally picked up your Secret Weapon corpse bases two days ago to act as Malifaux corpse markers, too.

Wow, just love most of it! The tail is odd for me, but I'm guessing that's part of their design. But overall it's adorable

The only correct answer as to which one to sculpt is all of them of course

Great sculpt, looks fantastic, agree with RiTides it looks a little off with the tail and antenna, but you have kept true to their design, so not your sculpt at issue. If anything you have nailed natures design quite well, so its her fault it looks weird.
So love your carapace work, just stunning.

In defense of Navarro... here's the real thing. I think he's done a really excellent job interpreting this into something that's viable as a model.

Whip scorpions are really weird, I know, but kind of cool since they spray liquid from that tail that smells like vinegar, so yeah really odd creature.
Mother nature does give us some crazy study subjects.
While sculpting I really had to make some elements cast friendly ( tail and antennas), so little tweaks to the proportions had to be made. In the end I also added some fantasy twists just to make it more wicked.
Speaking of odd creatures Im finishing one now that is as alien as it can be.
Slug wise I will try to make 2 or 3 tops but first I just received a few more commissions so I need to get around them.
Its been quite a prolific year for sculpting so far.
