I did exactly that.
I've been away from GW since leaving working for them nearly a decade ago, and have been an amused/despairing casual observer since. But their recent releases (boxed games) have got me getting back to my roots, and my missus and I have started messing with AoS as its so simple to learn (she board games a lot, but never could be bothered with minis beyond painting, but seems to gel with AoS pretty well, possibly due to playing Silver Tower first).
I figure twelve quid is not the worst price to pay to try WD again, and if not, easily cancelled with little lost.
I was reading WD since 188, and have read backwards to 1, so it will be nice to go back to the good old days... we shall see...

The taster 3 month subscription basically nets you a single free issue (well it is 50p more than the cost of two issues, but you get the idea).
Only in some countries though. Here in Sweden we only get two free issues :(
In other news, just signed up for a 12-month subscription! Really looking forward to that Slaughterpriest, honestly of the best minis released and that along with the other Khorne characters seriously make me consider adding a Bloodbound contingent to my Chaos army...

Is there a digital option? I like having them on the ipad to read and store.

That is rubbish for those of you abroad, obviously over there you use the Krona, do those countries using the Euro get a similar bad deal? I assume the Aussies get hit with the worse deal as usual.
As for the free miniature I am stoked with the Slaughterpriest, I think it is a great miniature that I was going to add to my collection anyway.
If they start selling this in WH Smith again, take that as a sign that WD and GW are on the up again.

95£??
12 months delivery to Denmark is 66£ at the current exchange rate.

Can confirm this.
But for Spain, for example, it's 65€. Go figure.

Where are people getting free issues from? The way I see it, I don't see it as getting free issues, I see it as paying $7.50 Canadian a issue, instead of $12.50. It sounds so much better than 3 free issues.
Or am I missing something and you are actually getting free issues as well?

No, that's all. Just how people are choosing to interpret the savings.

Also factor in the free mini and comic that we know we are getting with WD (and rumored 2 more. Supposedly the first four issues come with a freebie), and we're talking about a MAJOR discount.

German GW site only has the 12 month subscription. I'm not willing to risk that. I would've gone for a three month one to be guaranteed the Slaughterpriest edition.

Shorter subscriptions have only ever been available in the UKAFAIK.
As soon as digital is available, I'm on board. I was paying $9 mth prior, so no biggie for me.

I'm in two minds wether to subscribe digitally or physically. I get all my books and stuff digitally these days as Its so much easier storage wise....but I love the idea of having a stack of new white dwarves to add to my old ones from the 90s...I didn't like the look of weekly so didn't bother with it, but this new approach has peaked my interest.

Thanks, I thought I missed something. I wasn't going to get a subscription because I thought, "Ooooooo 3 free issues is not a big deal) when I still have to pay $12.50 an issue. But paying only $7.50 an issue, now that is a big savings. Now I am actually thinking of considering to this when before I thought it was a joke.
Now before I do, I just want to make sure, how does WD get delivered? By regular mail?

casvalremdeikun wrote: Honestly, I would rather they gave a voucher to subscribers that let us choose from a short list of characters. Maybe one or two from each faction. That way everyone would be happy.
That would be prohibitively expensive for GW to do. Not only would they have to have a huge supply of figures available, there would be labor costs to pick and pack, plus packaging materials, and shipping costs.
Vouchers to turn in at retailers for existing clam packs would cost them nearly $30 a pop. ($30 minus the retailers discount, plus labor, plus packaging and shipping for replacement figure )
Not necessarily, when I worked at GW in 05-06 WD sub people had a choice of a few different models to choose from. The SM capt with 2 handed thunderhammer running forward, Inq Giddion Lor ( the finger pointing witch-hunter), the female Inq. Fantasy had a few figgies including the WD to choose from, hell even LotR had a few guys to choose from....
And if that is the 'new Khorne' aesthetic im going to weep openly for my beloved Kharn....capt of the 8th assault company...
You do realise there is a difference between something you get to pick with your subscription, and something they attach to an issue at the news stand ?

I've just done this. £12.50 for three issues including postage is a ridiculous deal for any magazine these days. 150 pages is longer than some codexes and with an £18 freebie on the first issue that I can use, it's a total no brainier.
Frankly, if the mag is a good read that'll be a bonus!

Oh man. Cannot WAIT to get my free Slaughterpriest! Do GW know I have been eyeing up cause like ting a Bloodbound army? The fact that this is not one of the 4 Heroes in Gorechosen makes this even better.
Bye bye Dakkadakka, happy hobbying! I really enjoyed my time on here. Opinions were always my own :-)
Do we have confirmation that the free mini is the slaughter priest ? As all I've seems is someone saying it could be and then people taking that as fact ?

No official confirmation but a user on tga who runs an independent stockist heavily hinted as much. A second user heard the same thing from his red shirt. Nothing is certain, but as a gorechosen tie-in, it makes a lot of sense. At this stage I would be very surprised if it was something else.
Having a magazine with Kharn on the front, only for it to come with a different blood-crazy dude in armor, is somewhat amusing to me I've got to admit.
