Konohagakure

Hi i've been collecting O&G for a while but i've never got round to making a list out of them. please tellme what you think and how I can improve

Heroes = 249 points

Goblin big boss (army general), light armour, wolf, sneaky skewerer
=105 points

Night goblin big boss (battle standard bearer), spider banner
=105 points

Night Goblin Shaman, pipes of doom
=85 points

Core =492 points

40 Night goblins, spears, command group, 3 fanatics
=255 points

20 Night goblins, shortbows
=60 points

20 Night goblins, shortbows
=60 points

9 goblin wolf riders, spears
=117 points

Special = 250

Goblin wolf chariot
=60 points

Goblin wolf chariot
=60 points

Night goblin squig herd
= 30 points

Night goblin squig herd
=30 points

Goblin rock thrower
=70 points

Altogether = 991 points

The Army General will go with the wolf rider unit and they will form 2 ranks of 5.
The BSB will go with one of the archer units to give them poisoned attacks.
The Wizard will go with the other archer unit and blow his horn to prevent us from being outflanked whilst attempting to get off some little spells.
The big unit of spearmen will advance up the centre or towards the enemy's most expensive unit and attempt to tie them up whilst my wolf chariots/riders will attempt to flank them.
The archers will follow close behind the spearmen to keep their relatively short-ranged weapons in range.
The rock lobba will just sit at the back and bombard the enemy.

I hope to model the entire army as night goblins to tie them all together.

I would probably put the general on foot. I think using his superior LD to help your nights would fare better than using him as cav. Upgrade him to a warboss too. I'd also switch the BSB for a normal goblin in case general dies off. Drop spears on the unit, much better to have the parry save. I would migrate one of the fanatics to one of the ranged goblin units. Should give them a musician too. Combine the poor squig units together, 1 rank of them is worthless. Maybe swap rock lobba for doom diver

It's just a 1000 point force I don't think i'd be able to afford a warboss. I planned to deploy the spear gobbos as a horde so that they could make do of a potential of 40 attacks

That's a very good start, and only needs a few changes.
1) 9+ general for goblin cav isn't enough. If a single goblin dies (which they will), you lose the rank bonus, and you won't strip ranks.
2) The general doesn't get fast cav, so the wolf riders lose fast cav when he joins them. Might as well take shields for the 4+ save since you won't be fast cav anyway.
3) Squig herds. With such small units, it looks like you're just going for the explosions. If you're going up against init 4 opponents, deploy the handlers in front of the squads. The handlers will die; then the squigs will step up and swing; with the whole unit popping if they flee, or at the start of your next turn, should you somehow win combat. I would not combine them, because 10 isn't enough either, so you might as well get twice as much pop when you do lose them.
4) BSB: spider banner on a naked BSB? You'll die before you get to use it. I'd drop it for the heavy armor with 4+ ward.
5) Mounted general? Drop wolf and put him on foot. You pay 12 points for his wolf, just buy another wolf rider.
Drop the pipes of Doom; those 35 points will let you upgrade your general to a Lord. Now all you have to do is dig up enough points to make him survivable. At 1,000 points, I'd just take the protecty amulet.
6) Nets? You'll need nets on that big block. Got to find 35 more points.

You absolutely want LD8 for your general. A goblin army will self destruct very quickly if you don't have at least LD8 and the re-roll from the bsb.

In the Webway.

A general on a wolf could work, but as has been said, the main problem with this is that he wont be there to buff up the LD of your gobbos. If you're going to field him on a wolf i'd suggest porko's pigskikka or wollopa's one hit wunda. Other changes for the heroes: i'd bake your BSB more survivable and drop the pipes on your shaman and make him a lvl2.

I'd drop one chariot for another rock lobba, rock lobbas will be a lot more effective than the chariots, as they only have a 5+ save and low stregnth. Also, i'd combine and make the squig herds bigger ortherwise they're just going to die quickly to shooting and kill a good portion to your army.

Goblins don't kill units through wounding them. Drop the spears, you'll fair much better with HW/SH, find room for more fanatics (2 per block at least, try dropping the wolf riders to make them fit), these handle all of the killing.

I'd also strongly recommend getting a a couple of doom divers, and some bolt throwers. And instead of the pipes, the sneaky stealin' staff may give you much better mileage.
