I need diameter and stuff so other people I play against will be ok with it. As I am not good at scratch building I will take all advice I can get for this and listen like a young Jedi. Better even. Like a young Sith.
Please tell me what length and width is acceptable on the artillery kannons in the ork list so that I may model them, and if you can feel free to drop some hints on how to do so.

“Well, what do you carry the gun for if you’re just going to waste bullets?” Timer reloads his Boomer as Forling fires his Shrapper.
“I may ‘ne be a good shot Timer, but I don’t miss much from this close up with my hammer,” Forling continues to fire.
“All the enemies are good and far away so what the hell does that…” Timer looks up to see Forling giving him an angry stare. “Oh, yea, ok, um, good shooting.”

If its big, and looks like a gun it'll be fine for orkz.

I wouldn't even try to make them the same. That kind of uniformity is un-orky in the extreme. If you have bits of battle cannons or earthshakers around that would be great, or go to the hardware store and get some quarter inch plastic pipe (sorry, that would be about 6 mm)

Judging by the photo at http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?prodId=prod1060185 , I'd say they should be roughly 50-60mm wide and long, and a bit less high. So long as you're not ridiculously over or under those dimensions, you'll be fine.

As for modelling them, it's just a big gun on some sort of mounting. As orks are such good looters, you can cheerfully borrow bits from any other model range, from WHFB cannon to IG/marine heavy weapons to Eldar artillery, so long as you then orkify it to represent the mekboy's "improvements" as he turned it into a kannon. So the first step is definitely to rummage through your bits box.

Misery. Missouri. Who can tell the difference.

I just used the left over kannons from the battlewagon kits. They are perfect. Since I do not use kannons or zapp guns I now have two full batteries of each.

Agreed.

Thats the fun part of Orks...scratch building stuff. The more ramshackle and junky it looks the better. Most Orks arent really that worried about aesthetics and such, as long as its shooty, stompy, makes lots of noise and kills lots of stuff.

lol The Aesthetics of Ork is that it lacks uniformity.

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

When I'm editing alot, you know I have a gakload of homework to (not) do.

Well they also have the same stats as a rokkit. So you could just make them look like mortars and call it good. I made mine look like a howitzer, heres a picture

Also here is a crude picture of my cannons next to a poor Commissar that is being "nice enough" to "donate" his hat to an Ork Im working on. ( no I didnt paint that horrible Commissar )

It's funny I have scratch built two using the kannon and kill-kannon upgrades for the battlewagon and my third one is simply the turret off of an old leman russ. The third one is going to get replaced when I can get a hold of more bits, but most often people look at it and say, "That is awesome!"

Will try to get them undercoated and maybe add a layer to the wheeling bar. Get some grots in the seats behind the kannons and one pushing it forward in the 'far' future.
Here's another shot, you think they came out ok?

last shot.

It's blury but I'm taken pics with my phone until I upgrade to a camera.
Ghaz, some bikes, a big shoota and 3 kans are around them.
I'll keep updates for their build in my Kannons and the Gang pics. When it's finished I'll post it here. Thanks again for ideas and help. They look legal enough yeah?
