Okay getting into fantasy, and still getting used to a lot of things, but I have about 3 weeks to get ready for a 1500 point tournament, and wanted to get some other eyes on the list, and see what would be considered for the extra 240 points I have to spend, and or any changed to the list.

Hero's
Runesmith 99pts
Great Weapon
Rune of Spellbreaking x 1

Thane (BSB) 130pts
Master Rune of Grugni

Core
Thunderers x 12 168pts
Full Command

24 Dwarf Rangers 313pts
Great Weapons, Full Command, Throwing Axes

24 Dwarf Warriors 265pts
Full Command, Great Weapons

Special
Grudge Thrower 140 pts
Engineer(brace of pistols) Rune of Forging

Cannon 135pts
Rune of Forging, Rune of Reloading

This leaves me with 240 points unspent, and I just for the life of me can not decide on what I need to do with it, either work on a sturdy unit to work as an anvil, or more range, and let the scouts do the work for me as well. I appreciate any input for a new player, and welcom any criticism towards the warband!

You could get a unit of long beards.

Maybe a stock cannon and a organ gun. Adds in a lot of fire power. Or as said longbears, they really add in some punch

Add a thane o pain (killy dwarf character) to give those warriors punch. Add two runes of penetration to the grudge thrower to make it really dangerous.

I would contemplate dropping those rangers to normal warriors as they are going to be way out in the middle of nowhere without support. Use the points to get another unit of troops (not shooty troops, combat troops). Two units really isnt enough in fantasy usually.

I can see dropping the rangers to warriors. It would free up 48 points giving me 288 to play with. Maybe a block of twenty GW warriors and a thane with a few buffs? Thats 200 in warriors gives me four ranks of five, and leaves 88 points for the second thane.

I would probably just put the 88 towards making that unit 25 strong with full command. Drop the rune of reloading (rare that you'll need it with forging) on the cannon and you'll have enough for a second spell breaker, which will leaving you feeling pretty comfy at 1500 points, I think.
