Hello everyone,

I just ordered and received my Logan Grimnar model. I decided I wanted to put him on a nice base. I didn't know how to do it really, but I wanted to make a small rock-cliff type base and will in the end put snow around the rocks. So, I think I may have created the base the hard way. I took some plastic card, and some green stuff. I basically laid the plastic card (cut in a broad diamond shape) over two balls of green stuff, to create a sort of cascading set of rocks. I then added more green stuff over the plastic card to sculpt it and give it a rock-like look and texture.

Is there an easier way to do this? I mean green stuff isn't all that expensive, but I am just thinking to myself there has got to be an easier way. When using my method the time invested goes up a lot. I searched the forum and found some articles but not really a good how-to.

Thanks

You could always use actual rocks. Dunno about the snow effects though.

Also, we'd love pics of what you've done already!

It is still setting but once it gets done I will post some pics. Also putting together my Canis Wolfborn model today too. Funny thing is I haven't played since 2nd edition and back then there wasn't a model for Logan so I always used blackmane as Logan. Now they finally made a model for him and it is a pretty kick ass looking model.

Easiest way to do snow is the Bicarbinate of Soda + CA glue

There was a thread/vid somewhere for a SW with GS rock basing
may have been on BoW

I have been using a two part modelling Resin (magic sculp) for making rocks.

Not quite a rocky outcrop but the snow and GS tricks will hopefully be useful

also worth a gander is secretweaponminiatures.com

they have a whole scenics section where, among other kits, you can get a snow kit (ive seen the tutorial, but have yet to try and actually use the stuff on my Ogre Kingdoms... Best thing is, i didnt realize at the time, but the snow kit comes with dirt, glue, some water effects, and grass, as well as the snow, so you really can do just about anything you have in mind for a snow/winter themed base.
