One game i had which was real close but real cool because of my infantry platoon. i was in an IG civil war (cool cause my colour scheme fitted well). By the end i had an imobilised demolisher canon a 9 man infantry squad, vendetta gun ship and a platoon and company comand squad. My adversery Tom had two full health vet squads and a peed off sentinal. I demolished his first squad after they took down my best veterans. his sentinal tried to rape my tank but i hit it with 3 twin linked las canons. It went BOOM but took 5 squad members with it. His remaining squad had every thing it needed to kill the rest of my units. They emptied their guns at my comand squad and i was left with a wounded officer. my tank was "parked" round a corner and had no line of sight. My vendetta done nothing as they had cammo and were in cover as well as my platton comand squad who were too far back to be of any use.

My last chance were 3 regular infantry soldiers and a sargent. They were origanly a combined squad of 20 but fought off a storm trooper squad with lord comissar in close combat. my final move was a CHARGE with the YEEEE-HAW thrown around by spectators. 4 infantry v 10 entrenched veterans. From my attacks each soldier hit and wounded once however the sargent hit twice. only one save past. his attacks caused 2 wounds. i roled a doubble . Tom failed his morell and was cut down by them. A squad at less than 25% strength took down an entire vet squad in close combat.

Every one was shocked as i had to kill everything to win as he had beaten me in the basis of kill points as i used small squads such as 3 man rattlings etc.

Both mine and my freinds Hq duking it out ... and kiling each other at the last turn....( We were down too just the HQ's) it was all or nuthing....

My captain on a bike with thunder hammers against his mega armoured Ork... Both had full only one wound left... and we both failed our Inv. saves... game was a draw... both sides had nuthing on the table...

A 5 man squad of Wolf Scouts jumping out of reserve and ambushing a Necron Lord in a unit of 15 warriors. Downed the lord and enough of the warriors for them to fail their LD test and run. They got sweeping advanced which caused a phase out.

The one in my head where, after holding on to the objectives to the last turn and dominating the enemy in an objectives game, the Sisters call in airstrikes and bombard the hell out of everyone.

Oh wait that's every objectives game that I win.

The coolest ending I had was in this game.

We had utterly destroyed the enemy, leaving a single space marine, a libby, and a chimera for all the forces they had left. Bottom of 6, the enemy makes a last ditch effort to run down my forces with his chimera out of spite.

My squads break and begin to run away, except for the lone grenade launcher guy...



Who death or gloried the tank to a halt. As there was no shooting or assaulting and the game ended after that, this was the last action of the battle.

a tournament a few weeks ago.

the mission was to have your commander kill your opponents commander(1 HQ had to be called the commander if there were multiple HQs)

i was facing some Guard led by Creed against my Space Marines led by Pedro.

My LR with Pedro and his assault terminator buddies charges his lines(accross a board that was entirely Bastions and Aegis defense lines)

Pedro and company get out and charge a squad of Vets and cut them down to a man(LCs + Pedro = utter destruction)

on his turn he shoots my terminator squad with 2 outflanking Demolishers, and another squad of Veterans. only 1 terminator fails his Invuln from the Demolisher cannons. meanwhile, Creed and his squad run and hide in a bastion.

on my turn, Pedro calls down his Orbital Bombardment on Creeds bastion and the whole things comes tumbling down. the terminators leave him to assault the Veteran squad standing between Pedro and Creed. squad is gone before THs get to swing.

his turn, he again tries to blast me with Demolishers, but my LR is in the way and i pass all my Invulns or covers(LC terminators)

my turn, Pedro rejoins the assault terminators for the final blow on Creed. the LC terminators take down everyone but Kell. the THs paste Kell and then Pedro rolls his attacks and Creed goes down.

meanwhile my army was rocking his. both Basilisks were blown up 1st and 2nd turn by long range lascannon shots from my Tacs, his 2 other Veterans were killed by combat squads and some Sternguard. my total losses 1 Landspeeder Typhoon, 2 Terminators, 3 Sternguard and 4 Tactical marines.

One of the first games I played was against my friend's necrons. He battered me down to just a single tactical marine with a lascannon in the back of my deployment zone. I needed to kill just one more necron to phase him out and the nightbringer was 7" or so away, so next turn I was toast.
Lascannon snipes a heavy destroyer and it fails its WBB roll.

I just like imagining the entire company being wiped out all around him- he's the last one left. A god is swooping in towards him but he levels his cannon and cracks through the destroyer. It falls to the ground and suddenly the whole army phases out, including the c'tan who leaves behind just a pillar of smoke that rolls over the sm. Epic.

I would be annoyed because i would have to drag all of my dead buddies back but happy 'cos now i'm the captain.

Well it was 1000 points, my TS vs my Friends BA at the FLGS, well after 5 turns, in almost the direct middle of the board, all either of us had left was his Sanguinor with 2 wounds and my TS Aspiring Sorcerer. It went to turn 7 and my TS sorcerer finally died to the Sanguinor, just pure EPIC

An Apoc game where everyone brought 500pts of stuff each for their side. The winning team would be those that wiped all the opposing side off the board.

In a game of Imperium + Tau vs Chaos, Imperium dominated... apart from my small chaos strike force. I was newish to 40k and as such didn't have anything like a Baneblade, so I brought my terminator lord of Khorne with Twin LCs, some termies and some havocs.

My havocs spent the game pinned and being picked off by gun drones that deep struck in behind them.

My Termies managed to chew through more of the Imperials than the rest of our side, and at the end of the game?

My Terminator Lord stood facing the remaining Imperials after making amazing saves and performing amazing feats of killyness and survivability, with 1 wound left, as a testament to Chaos.

The game was a draw due to the Imperials not having blown my Terminator Lord away. Of course, this was the official stance; the unnofficial stance was that Imperials won by a landslide, which in all reality should've happened.

My best feat of that game? First round, the Imperials decided to try and take out my terminators. Their Baneblade unleashed the main cannon on them, and after the smoke cleared, they were still there; just even angrier.

Whenever I remember it, I just picture a battle line of marines and guard faltering as my Terminator Lord stands defiant, with the skulls of a Death-Cult Assassin, Shas'O Commander and Chaplain on his trophy rack, blood still dripping from his crackling lightning claws.

Ending 2:

In a Chaos versus Tau match, the battle was so bloody that in the end, it was 1 Fire Warrior vs my Lascannon Marine, both in cover, both desperately trying to snipe each other.

The game ended about 3 turns before the Fire Warrior was pulled out of cover to try for a rapid fire. Just about 1" out, I obliterated him with my lascannon. I imagine a Fire Warrior running out from behind a wall, levelling his Pulse Rifle as he runs, watching the lascannon charge up. The Fire Warrior slips as he fires, causing the shots to bury themselves in the dirt before the marine, who calmly takes aim and blasts the fish out of existence.

Had the FW not come out of cover, we would've spent a few more turns duking it out.

Playing a Farsight Enclave at Conquest this year. After about twenty battlesuits deepstruck behind me and wasted one vindi, immobilised and weapon destroyed the other, and I charged them with most of what I had, and took a beating from Farsight. I had an unmarked Terminator Lord running around on his side, along with another Terminator elsewhere, until the Lord took three wounds, and rolled three ones to save them .

End of the game I had three models. The Terminator, the broken Vindicator, and a one-wound sorceror in combat with several battlesuits. An awsome game to play out.

Dark Eldar vs. Blood Angels in a 1000pt annihilation game. I had 4 kp to my opponents 6 in the bottom of turn 7. There were only 4 Blood Angels left on the board in some area terrain but I had to table them to win the game. I fire everything I have left at them and only kill two. My opponent fails his morale check giving me the win.

It was one of the most satisfying wins I've ever had.

I was playing Tyranids against CSM, and all that was left was gaunts, genestealers and a daemon prince. My gaunts assaulted and then the genestealers assaulted, and unable to pile them all in, I piled them on top of each other. all basically had pile of Tyranids on the daemon prince, Tyrainds won.

Orks vs. Chaos Space Marine. CSMs are down to one Land Raider with Kharn in it (one wound left). Orks get their last unit on the board (A boyz trukk) - race up, pile out, Waaagh! and manage to get close enough (he actually rolled a one, then made his armor save!) to charge the Raider. Needing 6s to hit (and 6s to pen) the Nob gets one hit - one pen - one explosion. The explosion kills Kharn (who rolled a one on his armor save), along with a bunch of boyz.

Was probably the greatest ending to a battle we've ever seen at my FLGS.

Grey Knights vs an all Zerker list.

45 GKs(10 Terminators), 1 Drednought(lascannon and missile launcher), and 1 LR.

he had something like 80 bezerkers and Abbadon.


last turn, i had only my Landraider vs Abbadon and 2 squads of 2 Zerkers. one squad of his is on an objective, if i can tank shock him off i will tie the game. i tank shock, he decides to DoG andf i forgot he had a Melta Bomb.

he Penetrates and my LR explodes. both of those Zerkers take a wound and then roll their armor saves.



both Zerkers gone and he holds no objectives with the last 2, but my force is completely dead so he wins.

we decided it was a Moral Draw, but the real winner was Khorne. BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD

Tau fire warriors charging at the assault squad holding an objective, and proceeding to beat them to a bloody pulp, causing the Tau player to win against me...

My necrons were facing down a farseer and the last 3-4 warlocks left in his retinue (and a couple of warwalkers which were basically perma-locked in combat with a unit of wraiths). Its the last turn of the game, my opponent manages to knock down one cron. If I fail his WBB roll, its game over for me. Sure enough, I fail the roll and lose the game... if I hadn't, there would have been no need for me to continue with my turn, as I had accomplished all mission objectives up to that point.

Yeah, I lost, it was still exciting, one of the best games I've had in a long time.

With my first guard army I was fighting my friends 3rd edition Ghazkull led orks and I had Yarrick. The two of them were down to one wound at the end of the game and couldn't knock each other out. Really fitting I felt as pretty much everything else on both sides were dead bar a few individual infantry or the odd immobilized transport.

I was proxying my first second game as Tyranids against my friend who plays Tau. Seeing how this was my second game as Nids, I didn't know what I was doing. By turn 5 all I had left was a Broodlord hiding on an objective. He still had a Broadside, Hammerhead, and Crysis Suits. Hammerhead fires railgun! and misses! Broadside gears up, but misses even with a reroll! Crysis suits fire plasma guns and missile launchers, but I make all of my cover saves! By turn 7 nothing has changed, with my almighty Broodlord laughing as railgun shots miss and fail to wound.

A vanilla Space Marine player getting very smug over his 2 KP lead he had on me going into the last turn.

My Space Wolves get 6 KP in the last turn, he gets zero. I beat him 10-6.
