Hey guys,

I'm currently on a month-long holiday in Portugal, staying in my Dads new house here, i thought it would be cool to bring some stuff to paint. After a week or so i decided to start painting so i thought i'd show you all my progress.

I've brought Skellies, a few Vampires, Marines and Lizzies so there'll be a few things bouncing around depending on what i feel like painting next.

So, without further ado:

I need to get round to writing more fluff but its basically the skeletal army of a long-undead vampire, 120 skellies (60 in each squad), 10 black knights, 3 corpse carts, 2 vhargulf, 2 vamp lords and black coach (with the Count in). I'll be using Mantic for the bulk of the skellies and the black knights, scratch my own black coach, use the raging heroes manticore (in a thread somewhere) as a varghulf and otherwise GW.

Should have 4 more skellies done soon....

Got 4 skellies almost done, just got to weather the gold (like verdigris), rust the silver and put glowing eyes. WIPs:




And i also did a saurus test scheme, what do you think? (The shield will be standard red and gold, but i dont have em with me )

skeletons looking good. I feel your pain, I have over 200 french and British napoleonic miniatures. I already have them for about a year, and now, I still have only 20 models built, and around ten painted. Good luck with the 105 skeletons.

IMHO the brown one looks best. it blends in better. The black base looks kinda off.

Skeletons are look great... love the glowing eye effect. Looking forward to more sir!

As you can tell, i have returned. Had a good time in my Dads new Portuguese house apart from the fact that the roof is royally f%$£*d, and there was water running down the walls!! We managed to block it until a new roof can be put on around March..

@ Sageheart: Well, as is the way of things our group moved on from Necro, so they're on hold for the mo. If i ever get round to thinking like a Tech Priest again i'll be sure to finish them

Well, i finished the five saurus that were WIP whilst listening to some banging tunes on Radio 1. Sorry the pictues are poor buts its 23:46 here and i tired

The skeletons look fantastic- I might have to draw inspiration from that when I get down to painting my WHQ skellies as well.

Are you making armies for Lizardmen and VCs? Or just picking up random boxes and painting for collection's sake?

Actually, the lizzies are for my 3k army that i have assembled. Bought it about a month or two ago, only just started painting them. The Skeletons are for a 3k skelly horde (120 of the buggers!) that i have 1/3 of, only lot ive painted so far. Going to bulk the army with mantic stuff i think

Very nice skeletons! The eyes remind me of a similar army shown in a WD at the start of the year. Very effective.

Thanks Cain! I think i know the oneyou mean, i like the effect, hopefully i managed to pull it off moderately? Its my first real attempt at OSLish things!

I plan on putting dead grass and mist (cotton wool?) around their ankles, we shall see!

I i could do OSL quickly and properly i would do an army in night, like one i saw a while back. It had glowing eyes and torches but everything else was as if in night, looked sweet!

Yes thats a Scythed Heirodule, had it built for a while but decided to paint it the other day!

Just finished 7 stealers and a Hive Guard! Picture is a bit crap with the flash but its 2am so its the best i could do!!



I think i'll be starting a Nid blog, if i do ill post links here for your pleasure

Got a bit of money for chistmas so should have some new skellies soon!

I like the 'scheme on those 'Nids. Very striking.

Thankyou wolfshadow, i stumbled on it by accident but i prefer it to the bright garish nids that you see.

I ordered 60 skeleton spearmen from Mantic today (£30 bargain! ), so i should be good to go with the skellies again soon! I have a few ideas for large diorama multi-basing so i bought a couple of screaming bell bases and a fallen giant template, more on that when i get the stuff!

Also finished the Hierodule today, but pics will have to wait until i get some superglue to re-assemble the bugger!

Sweet color-scheme for your 'Nids! I like it! Is the shell base an olive-color?

I'm also thinking of doing a VC army... I dislike the $90.00 GW blood knights though... probably go for Mournful Knights by... Mantic, I think? That's a horde of skeletons you've still got to paint- I'm sure it'll be impressive once you've got all of them with eyes glowing and ready to march on the living!

Hello all and a Happy New Year, best wishes for 2011!

@HF Inazagi: The carapace colour is catachan green, i kind of just paint it a bit sloppily so that it ends up streaked a bit, i really cant be bothered to highlight the shells on all the small gribblies!! The Mantic Undead Cavalry are sweet, but look more like Black Knghts imo, when i get some i'll put them up here for you! I think i should eventually paint all the skellies.......eventually!! Randomly painting different things helps with motivation though

I finished the Scythed Hierodule from FW today, jut need to stick some vegetation to the base, pics:







And one with the flash, a bit washed out but shows you the colours i put down. The base is a basecoat of Burnt Umber oil paint to make it look like wet jungle mulch followed by vermin brown and graveyard earth drybrushes.

Wheres my Flamethrower? That thing is scary! Kill it with fire!

Wow, never seen that model before. Looks evil indeed! Reminds me of some pissed off creature from the deep that I saw on the Blue Planet documentary. Really liking your work Whats next? More Skeletons or Nids?

@Regnak: I believe 'twas the first nid model done by FW, some of the carapace is a bit outdated but it holds up well next to the newer bugs, rules are sick as well!

Thanks the freehand took about 30 mins i'd imagine! Lots of concentration and thin lines

Next should be:

- the base the Hierodule
- finishing off the 6 painted lizzies now i have access to the shields and flock
- More VCs, bought 60 skellies from Mantic and have a specal diorama-esque multi base in mind
- Attempt at a sculpted Hive Tyrant, milliput work is done, just waiting on some colour shapers to get here for gs work!

So..... A lot to be getting on with!!!! And its my birthday soon so i'll have even more unbuilt unpainted stuff to squirrel away somehere!!!

These pictures show the true colour better. I tried to go for a jungle theme with my Nids, hope it came out ok?? Funnily enough this is the first Tyranid model i have finished and based properly. Oh the shame!!

That Heirodule is fantastic! Love the vegetation and it's pose is pretty wicked too.
