Feasting on the souls of unworthy opponents

Howdy folks!

Its time to plan my 2011 GT schedule, where I'm travelling to, when, and that sort of thing. I know about the Saint Valentine's Day Massacre in Philadelphia in February, but that's about it. What else is going on, when, and any details that can be dropped in would be welcome!

I think there is this Throne of Skullz thing in Vegas this Summer. But it is only for those that win a spot at a Rough Trader Tournament with at least 14 players that got posted on the GW website uhhhh I mean Independent Grand Tournament.

If you want to throw down with the Best (see above as to who those dudes are) in a format that will crown a winner using a points level and system not seen on this continent I'm sure it'll be a blast. Or just a blackout due to the drinking involved in Las Vegas. *end Deadpan*

Sorry Dash, I couldn't resist....

@asugradwa

Funny thing is it was me and Shep that got our tickets from that event and I'm pretty sure I'm at least a moderately decent player For me it was nice cause I got to hang up my undefeated Space Wolves for the year (at 3 other GT's) and play my counts-as daemons I built

Well, I expect QCR to happen in May. They are still working out getting a bigger venue.

SCGWL will be doing our events out of Strategicon this year. The 40k Slaughter will happen Memorial Day weekend and the Fantasy Slaughter will happen Labor Day weekend, both at a hotel near LAX (strategicon.net for details on their cons)

Kevin Murphy's group out of Reno is interested in us hauling gear down and assisting him in running an event there sometime in spring, but its in the early discussion stage.

NeonCon in Vegas had some logistical concerns this year, with the changing of venue. The ball is in Mike Shield's court on whether we do it again or not, but we would likely just do a 40k event there since the fantasy community is anemic right now.

Thats our tennative scedule, but the two Slaughters are deffinates.

Hulk- I wasn't talking about just the event you got the ticket from I was talking about the event where I won a ticket as well. Though I did have to face 3 IG lists in a 5 game tournament with the old codex DE so I guess I did alright by finishing second (actually finished first but the judges didn't add paint scores to best overall & the overall winner's list was 10 points over).

There are a number of events that have had 20 or fewer players, which I find funny where an event like TSHFT in Seattle has more than 40, yet is not giving out Golden Tickets.

It's not automatic that a tournament gets on the GW Indie Circuit. The event organizer has the responsibility of applying to be on it, and has to do some leg work. They also don't do a lot of adding in events after the schedule is set. Anyone looking to get into the 2011-2012 season should be sending emails to GW now, (and then being patient about them getting back to you.)

To be on the circuit and recieve GW prize support, they really want to see a minimum of 50 players. Tournaments that only get 20 players might not make the circuit the next year. Tournaments shooting to get into the circuit need to have the facilities to hold 50 people, the tables, scenery, and staff.

Get the guys at TSHFT to talk to GW promotions, and start working to get on the 2011-2012 schedule. Expect events that are pulling 20 or fewer people to maybe get dropped.

It's a process of learning, and growth, for both GW and the people putting on the Tournaments.

....and lo!.....The Age of Sigmar came to an end when Saint Veetock and his hamster legions smote the false Sigmar and destroyed the bubbleverse and lead the true believers back to the Old World.

First year was always going to have some kinks, and there were a LOT of events. I expect this coming year will be a bit smoother.

I think we could be entering the golden age of Indy GTs. Seems like it was a good decision on the part of GW.

I'll do a shameless plug for the Bugeater GT:

http://gt.bugeateragames.com

June 24th-26th in Omaha, Nebraska, the school is giving us the facilities for free, so it is a fundraiser for the debate program I coach. Gaming AND a your money goes to a good cause .

On the getting added to the circuit note - I contacted GW in April with my application, and was in steady contact with them up until October when they said they'd announce next year's circuit. Then I've heard nothing. I'm not upset or anything, just curious if anyone has heard anything back from them.
