I think that the pendulum has swung to far to the opposite of first turn front rank wipers... I love all the new rules I've ran into (don't play hardcore opponents) and I feel that the loss of striking first for chargers should be reinstated... The other rules more than compensate, and correctly remove the first turn blow through with no attacks back... Thoughts?

Monsters with breath weapons benefit greatly from chargers going first, because they'll be tossing out all their attacks, and 2D6 breath hits, and ending with a stomp.

I haven't seen charging going 1st being critical, but that might be because I don't run small units with low initiative.

I've tracked it a bit, and the +1 combat res for charging is often worth more than striking 1st.

Just my 2 cents is that I think units with swifstride should gain always strikes first on the charge.

But I also think units with spears should negate always strikes first granted by charging units with swiftstride.

I think lances should gain +2 Str, +2 In on the turn they charge.

Dont have any in my armies but I agree. Unless they charge a unit armed with spears but they still keep the +2S

I think that knights armed with lances should get impact hits when they charge and maybe the impact hits should have the killing blow if the knight have charged over 15 inches.
