Ok I have played my skaven for a good while now and realized that I own way mroe than I could possibly use in fantesy. I want to make a skaven army in 40k.

I have narrowed it down to the following three armies:
Tyrinids
Imperial Guard
Orks

Each has a flavor of skaven and some that are far from skaven.

you guys tell me what codex I should use XD

Iron Kights 1850
1500, needs help lol
2000, dosnt work anymore due to changes in rules
Bretonnians up to 4,000 points

Dark Eldar.

Also this does not belong in YMDC; probably Tactics, Discussions, or Army lists.

This is my Rulebook. There are many Like it, but this one is mine. Without me, my rulebook is useless. Without my rulebook, I am useless.
Stop looking for buzz words and start reading the whole sentences.

IG.
Ogryn, and weapon teams make it pretty easy.
Any IG tank modeled up to look looted works for the other tanks.
Nothing is as skaven as a death strike.

IG. Heavy weapons teams.
Also the plethora of war machines and heavy weaponry.

It seems people like the guard theme moire and more.

My issue with the guard is indeed the armor. It makes me want to get some ork tanks for the cobbled together look that skaven is noted for.

Skaven are also noted for having unreliable war machines. You could use Orks but you could also use IG and still have the combled together look for your tanks. You could buy Ork vehicles and the Leman Russ and mix and match.

I can see Clan Moulder going for Nids since they'd have some really monstrous things. IG seems better suited for the more generic Skaven armies tho. Ogryns > Rat Ogres. Heavy Weapon Teams > Skaven Weapon Teams. Doom Wheel > Hellhound variant. Warp Lightning Cannon > Vanquisher or Leman Russ variant. Plague Catapult > Artillery tank, etc....

I was looking at a armor list since rats are not ones to go into battle without a large number of war machines.

i was also thinking of plague monks as a psychic chior for flavor.

Nids would be great for Clans Moulder and Pestilens with a bit of Clan Eshin attached (Lictors etc)
IG would better reresent Clan Skyre (Sp?) with Grey Seers (Primaris Psyker)
Orks would represent a random generic Skaven Clan. Lots of troops that can represent the different types of Skaven clans albeit not as strongly individually as the others.

Yeea I think Im going to make orks but since its skaven in space im not limited to one play style with them. As long as I tell people what each unit is I should be fine.

Another question would my army be legal at ard boys and such since it is all gw models jsut sybolizing something else?

Dunno. You'd have to thrash it out with the TO. I find it slightly unlikely which kills me snce it would be awesome.

Orks would be good for a Warlord Clan, mostly ones taking a bunch of Stormvermin equivallents (since they are pretty hearty for a ratman). Dark Eldar is fit for a pure-Eshin army.

Wyches just radiates Eshin, however all of the Deldar seems to fit with the clan. Poisoned weapons, higher reflexes, etc.... The Talos Pain Engine and Cronos Parasite Engine also could be beasts bought from Clan Moulder.

i can see dark eldar now, only issue is the fact that the quality of troop is high and wont fit the feel of skaven.

I think ork and Imp guard are my best options.

as for my torny question i think its stupid if im not allowed to compete. Everything will be Wysiwyg as for weapons.
