I'm thinking about getting one of the Forgeworld Mega-Dread models. My question is about the base. Does it need a base? If so, what size base should it use? Is there a standard size base that it will fit on?

I've played against someone who had one. It didn't have a base and it kept falling over, so I'd recommend getting a base for it. You could try one of the GW large oval bases, it might be big enough but don't take my word on that.

Can I ask how it performed? Was it awesome, or was it an awesome waste of points?

In combat it chops and maims most things where they stand, especially vehicles. However, it is the target for most melta fire and every heavy weapon your opponent will be able to find. So a lot of the time it gets gunned down before it reaches your opponent, but when its in range it causes havoc.

What on earth does that have to do with Mega Dreads? Just curious.

And as regards the question, since it doesn't come with a base I don't know how the 'use the base it came with' rule would work so as long as you use something sensible I don't think anyone would mind.
