Durring a game i was playing against a friend of mine, i used Ghazghkulls WAAAGH! now in the Codex it states "Ghazghkulls WAAAGH! lasts the remainder of that player turn and all the following player turn. During this period Ghazghkull's saving throw is invulnerable" now the question is. does Ghazghkull's 2+ saving throw BECOME an invulnerable save for the remainder of the turn? or does he HAVE to use his 5+ invulnerable throw for the remainder of the turn. we went back and forth for a while on this and finally decided on the former. just wondering if our verdict was correct.

He gets a 2++, that is, a Successful Invulnerable Save on anything but a '1' for LasCans, plasma wounds, PFists, you name it.

He becomes one *really* ugly mo'fo' for that turn and yours.

Yes, yes it does. Look at the rules for his Adamantium Skull.

He gets a 2+ Invulnerable.

On the other hand, Grey Knight weapons which don't allow inv saves become a really easy way to kill ghaz when he's waagh-ing...

thats a good question. Does he lose his 2+ armor or does he also gain a 2++ invul save on top of his armor save? how does his rule read? I dont have my ork dex handy.

would be good to know since Grey Knight weapons that ignore invul dont come in ap2 flavors.

IIRC his saving throw becomes invulnerable

Yup. He doesn't gain an invulnerable save... for that period his save is invulnerable. So he still has just the one save, and it is invulnerable.

Yeah, any weapons which ignore Invulnerables are the key during Ghazzy's Waaagh.

True, it can F up a C'tan too ... it's just not likely.

JOTWW does sound good against orks though I-bad

Thought the C'tans counted as jump infantry i.e not effected by Jaws, i may be wrong, and yes, for the remainder of that turn, and for the whole of next Turn Ghazzypoo has a 2+ save that is invulnerable and now his men are also fearless, and get an auto 6 for there fleet run (if you use it in the right phase) annnnnnnnd they all get fleet! its really a great abilite

Just an unrelated question, back in fourth edition when people didn't know how to run, what was the point of a Waaagh?

well at the end of 4th when the orks codex came out, you could only run if you had fleet IIRC

In 4th edition, Fleet granted the ability to run.

Yea, bu what was the point of that? Especially pared with invulnerable save.

To get to the enemy faster; you could assault after a fleet move in 4th.

It basically gave all Orks in 4th edition an 18" charge range for 1 turn(13-18" for armies not including Ghazzy).

Basically the point in 4th was the Same point as it has in 5th.

This is my Rulebook. There are many Like it, but this one is mine. Without me, my rulebook is useless. Without my rulebook, I am useless.

Yup, the end result was the same as it is now. The applicable rules simply morphed slightly between editions.
