I was just looking at the Manta for Tau and it is huge! It's over 2 feet long and almost 3 feet wide! That is insanely large. Has anyone ever seen/bought one of these?

I remember my friend and FLGS store clerk clamoring about the Manta a full year or so before the model was made (but the concept art already appeared in some IA books at the time). His hand gestures indicated that the manta was 4 feet wide, which means that it's roughly half the size of a standard gaming board.

Its the biggest model in the 40k range, and it's got the weight too. Buy a new vehicle to transport the damn thing.

Part of why it's so expensive and so big is that it carries a full 2000 pts Tau Army inside. And yeah, the Manta is ridiculouslly huge...I've never seen one in person, but I've seen some nice conversion or scratch build work in the dakka gallery.
