Subject: Raptors SM Chapter Organization (Question)
|

So I've been browsing through the internet finding images of Raptors (Chapter) Space Marines. I seem to mostly find the army green style - green all over, including the shoulder pads. I seem to not be able to find any with company colour markings. Well, I've found one, but I thought I'd ask just to be sure. So, do they display company colour markings, red sergeant helmets and white veteran helmets, or anything else for that matter? I believe that there's been some Imperial Armour to do with them. Any help would be greatly appreciated... thanks!
(Just so people know, I'm not looking for the yellow/blue colour scheme.)

That's cool to know, cheers! Still, what about the other things (company colours/markings)?

As a Raven Guard successor chapter, the Raven Guard's patterns might work. I'm always a fan of just using normal codex marine rules.

Marines are way too varied at the expense of other species. =[ Chapter markings might be as spireland said, or you could make one up and paint it freehand.

I think that you're probably both right of course. I might just settle with a simple number which indicates the company to which they belong. Does anyone have access to Imperial Armour volume three? Just in case that there might be something in there which is of use. Much thanks for all of the comments so far!

A simple symbol or rune would make an adequate chapter marking. I freehand the Iron cross onto the shoulders of all of my Iron Knights. Automatically Appended Next Post: Err..Not the German Iron Cross, the Iron Knights one.

Yeah, sound good to me. I think that I just look into it way too much. Thus I do less modelling/painting than I should/could be. Damn it all, I'm gonna just do it!

Raptors got FW support.
They got shoulderpads, doors and decals.
The green camo-scheme may have less markings than usual.
GW site gallery ( painted model ) :
And there is Insignium Astartes, which contains a pic of the camo-green scheme. Just tactical marking ( Tactical squad x ) and chapter badge.
specifically mentions "no company markings displayed".
Consider the green "camo" scheme as just that, a camo scheme. The Raptors are as a RG successor used to hide info from their enemys.
Standard codex markings provide additional data for anyone used to it. If you don't want to share with everyone who leads this squad or how many units of a company are there, you use less heraldry and signs of office.

Thanks 1hadhq, that's exactly the kind of thing that I was looking for. I think that I might not include red/white helmets for sergeants/veterans just because of the reasons that you've given. I'll do something more subtle I think. Forge World releasing the decals is the one main reason as to why I've decided to finally go for them - I can apply them after they've been dipped and not ruin the whiteness. Once again, thank you ever so much!

I havent seen any. I think it would look great though if you did go with a yellow/white helmet for the sgt. unless accurate depiction is your goal.

I think that it is cool too... Hmmm ... We'll see. Obviously Scouts wouldn't have any such markings. White would be more Raven Guard-y. But then what would Veterans do? AHHH!

I think you have a few possiblities for colors. Orange would look good for the sgts with that olive tone of the raptors. I would say you could look at blue, purple, orange, and red for sgts, then reserve white or gold for vets.
