Hello everyone ! I'm pretty new to warhammer 400000 and recently gotten myself a Necron Deceiver to go with my necron army My painting scheme for my necrons are pretty much normal ( boltgun metal + Badab black wash + scorpion green ) I've taken a liking to the Deceiver's default colour such as this

and

I'm not able to find any information on how I should paint it in the default colour :( any help would be greatly appreciated !

I was hoping to paint it boltgun metal but its default colour would help it to stand out better amongst the skeletal warriors

Thanks ~

Uh-oh... you really have NOT picked yourself an easy one. Hmmm, let's see.

Prime it with whatever colour. Then use a Foundation colour (Iyanden Darksun, Tausept Ochre) and paint on lots of slightly thin layers until it has covered well. Do not paint it on neat. Next is the gold... Use the brightest gold you can find, similar to Burnished Gold perhaps. Games Workshop golden metallics are, unfortunately, quite terrible. See if you can find some kind of Vallejo equivelant - I hear they are the best. Again, paint on lots of thin layers. Lots and lots and lots and lots... until you get an even coverage. Next lightly drybrush the whole model with Mithril Silver. Then wash the whole model with Gryphonne Sepia. Then give it another even lighter drybrush of Mithril Silver. Then use very thinned down Thraka Green and Baal Red on certain areas to give that colour-tinted look. Even better, use inks. Hope that this has helped a little bit. Search around everywhere trying to get inspiration and more direction. Good luck!

Paint it gold, ink the recesses, go back over with gold again. That what it looks like to me and would be the easiest thing to do.

Spray paint that baby gold with some Krylon. Their metallic paints are extremely thin, but don't drip if you don't go crazy.

the deciever is a shape shifter If I remember my fluff correctly has anyone tried to model/paint one mid transformation? krylon paint - wash and highlight would probably be simplest?

Color itself is up to you, although it should be primarily metalic as his form is composed of necrodermis.

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

When I'm editing alot, you know I have a gakload of homework to (not) do.

For this particular model, I would seriously think about one of those colour-shifting paints they use on custom cars...

It requires a multitude of thin paint layers to that effect on cars.

I'm sorry - I really thought it was just some sort of funky spray paint!

It is possible to do however. about a year back I was in charge of making a architectural scale model of a university hospital building inlondon uk for planning approval and we did 1-50 scale bronze facia detail but layering a bronze metailc spray and multiple very thin layers of a wash brown very very thin green with some black in it and it looked awesome bronze has a way of changing colour depending on the angle you look at it and we got very realistic results. but that was with a professional painter in the spray booth for a fortnight perfecting the technique which he hated doing and swears he will never do again!
