The poor man really has a stake in the country. The rich man hasn't; he can go away to New Guinea in a yacht. The poor have sometimes objected to being governed badly; the rich have always objected to being governed at all
We love our superheroes because they refuse to give up on us. We can analyze them out of existence, kill them, ban them, mock them, and still they return, patiently reminding us of who we are and what we wish we could be.

Looks cool. Of course, Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and Michael Collins are not going to be killed off in the movie so that kind of removes some of the suspense.

I don't get it. They are retconning the first movie in a big way.

Not THOSE specific humans per se. Just about all the other ones will do.

Since you couldn't hear it:

It would seem to be an old crashed Transformers ship that the US Government (isn't it always) has known about for some time. This is probably what lead to the creation of that ridiculous secret agency that John Turturro belonged to in the first movie. I'm thinking that it is just a flashback and that whatever is on the ship will be waking up. Or it could be that we will use the spare parts to make anti-Transformer weapons. Or both.

I didn't find the trailer all the engaging.

Sector 7's origins were explained in the first movie.

There was a script for T3 that made it onto the internet a year ago, but I don't know if it was ever verified to be real.

Spoiler:
The script leaked about a year ago involved time travel. Watching this trailer... Hmmm. Not to suggest I think this is the case just that I thought I should mention it. I don't remember the moon being in the script I read through.

I wouldn't call Movie #1 the best thing in entertainment since George Fitzhugh, but I thought it was fun.

Movie #2 now... So many plot holes...

I'll pay to go see it, but unless they actually stick with giant robot fights I'm still gonna complain about the horrible dialogue and acting. IMO they need to go back and watch the animated movie about 304980928 times so they can actually get it right.

Oh, and Micheal Bay can die in a fiery auto crash.

Trailer looks cool, but I'm not expecting anything other than a loud special effects smorgasbord. Which is fine.

I didn't say it wasn't fun, just that it isn't worth remembering; disposable, like a Capri Sun.

As a fan of pre-Bay Transformers, what should I have taken from this trailer to be excited about?

Excellent!

Now explain to me why the only Transformers that would seem to matter to me is OOP. Or do you think it might suddenly be on the shelves soon-ish, say next to bluray copies of "Dark of the Moon"?

That wouldn't surprise me. I didn't realize it was OOP. Probably working on a BLURAY edition with all of Orson Welles commercials on the disk.

It was however, more memorable than that 80s abortion of animation with the cheeseball hair metal soundtrack.

Shortly before he died, he told his biographer, Barbara Leaming, "You know what I did this morning? I played the voice of a toy." He elaborated, "I play a planet. I menace somebody called Something-or-other. Then I'm destroyed. My plan to destroy Whoever-it-is is thwarted and I tear myself apart on the screen."

Well as long as they go back to what made the first one good...I.E. good story writing I'm in. However I will certainly wait for reviews, before I rush out and watch it like I did with part 2.

The senseless killing of Ironhide, et al., in the '86 movie is more emotionally significant than anything that happened in either Bay movie. I'm not saying it was that much better, I'm saying they're that much worse--to me.

Special effects and giant robots. You gotta admit that the giant robot fight scenes are pretty cool, its just that the movies are also infested with real people. YUCK!!!

It's as if a movie based on a toy line with a brainless cartoon attached will be brainless and designed to sell toys.
