HQ attaches to the pathfinders to give them ablative wounds and forces them to shoot heavy weapons at them or else I get 2+ with 4+ fnp and leadership 9. Piranhas run out and movement block after dropping drones to help cover my front lines. Dumbfish with warriors screen the suit team with only 2 guys so they can't be shot at and move upfield starting around turn 2 or 3 depending on where objectives are. I like the targeting arrays on the broadsides as frankly if I'm going to shoot them at something it has to die so I want it to hit, the repositioning is nice sometimes but unless the missions have some wacky rule to them I think I'll be okay with them as is.

Thoughts?

That's an interesting strategy with your HQ. I usually just take mine with other crisis suits, but your strategy sounds neat. You may want to consider taking advantage of one of the special issue items, like the AFP or the CIB.

8 Fireknives is a lot. I would change one of the squads to either Helios (FB, MP, MT), Firestorem (BC, MP, MT), or maybe Sunforge (TL FB and something else). If you do Sunforge I would drop 1 of the Piranha squads entirely or drop 1 squad and make a squad of 3.

Personally, I like FWs a lot more. I've never used kroot, so I don't know how effective they are, but I've found that FWs in large numbers can put a huge dent in infantry squads. The only downside is that they aren't nearly as efficient without Devilfish, so there's more points, but that's a matter of taste, really.

I've never had any success with Piranhas. I can see your reasoning for taking them, but I think a squad of 3 would be sufficient. Plus that would free up a space for another squad of Pathfinders.

The reason I take Advanced Stabilization Systems is in case my target moves just out of sight. They allow me to adjust my positioning so I can get a better shot or regain line of sight. Plus the railguns are TL anyway, so there's a good chance they'll hit.
