So many threads revolving around things that are upsetting, from GW's 'business practices' to cheatin' gits, so let's light things up a bit. What have been your favorite funny moments in the hobby? Game, fluff, modelling related, anything!
I just had one as I looked through my models and realized that my dwarf miners are running around candles on their heads. I don't know what I expected but it hit my funny bone.

I once had a never ending battle between Ragnar (I think it was) and a carnifex. It may have been my first, maybe second, game of 40k ever. This was back around 1996, dont recall what edition it would have been. Anyhow, kept charging him at the carnifex, couldnt sink a single wound. Carnifex would counter attack, he would save and get moved (teleported?) back several inches. Then the cycle would begin again. They were the last 2 models left, everything else had been killed.

What makes me laugh is when I roll double 1 to penetrate with a meltagun/bomb.
Then my opponent usually laughs when i give that soldier a verbal beatdown for the next 2 and a half minutes.

When a single lascannon shot took all three structure points from a bane-blade and blew up a land raider and took a wound off abbadon and finally put down yarrick. The opponent then gave up (only a 2500 point game). And this was after a panquisher and two other vanquishers couldn't scratch it for 4 turns.

I have had many over the years. Let's see:
Apoc game, Space Wolves vs. Space Marines - Wolves are fielding a Shadowsword, Marines a Baneblade. As the game starts coming to a close, the Wolves charge forward, and a multi-melta shot from a Land Raider (sitting within about 8" of the Baneblade) causes an Apocalyptic Explosion. Dice rolls all around, the Baneblade goes boom, and the Marines' army (which had been sitting back, trying to win a shooting match) is almost completely wiped out in one shot.

I piled about 25ish boyz into an assault. They won. So when I moved them for consolidation, I grabbed one boy and in perfect barrel of monkies style, about 9 or so slid along with him, arms stuck to choppas and the like. It was really funny at that moment. I just kept laughing and the tears came and everything. Im sure it was a "you had to be there" moment, but it was just great

I laughed very hard when my Tau playing friend had his Shas'o within one inch of my Chimera, he hits with his Fusion Blaster and rolls a 17 to penetrate, he figures it was dead and promptly rolled a one on the pentrating damgae tables (4th ed game), he was so pissed for the rest of the game. From then on my Chimera was known as Rasputin.

Three stories come to mind:
Doubles game, orks & tau vs guard and grey knights. Only thing I have left on the table is a warboss, out in the open, about 15 inches from the front of a russ punisher with paske in it. I declare a waaagh and all I have to do is make the run roll to get into assault and then I can at least claim I actually did something, so I move 6, cast the d6 for a run roll, what do I score?
1
a smegging 1! Needless to say, my warboss took all the shots in the face and died horribly. Since then I've continually reminded him to tie his shoelaces before each battle...
Second story, arena of death (1 unit from your codex, less than 200pts, 24" square battlefied) ork warphead vs defiler. I get first turn, roll for powers, BAM roll Zzap!, BAM hit defiler, BAM penetrating hit, BAM rolled a 6 on damage chart. That round lasted 5 minutes .
Third, last game I played, 1000pts against a guard list with 3 demolishers and a hellhound, due to luck of terrain my opponent deployed his hellhound inside a building (but was still able to fire out!), late-game, charged the hellhound with my warboss and took it out no problems, consolidated inside the building (nice 3+ cover save, plus 5+ invulnerable), took all 3 demolishers firing every weapon at him to bring him down!

My freind went through the roof about how broke scouts are. The following turn the same scouts ran back across the table and blew up his land raider with their combi melta on a glancing hit from about 10" away. i didnt provoke him any after this last offence. really

My first game of Necromunda I rolled the artillery die rather than the sustained fire die for my heavy stubber. If I remember correctly, I hit a single Goliath something like twelve times. Ooops ...
ETA: I also once saw a 40K game where a Tygron fought off a colossal horde of Orks boyz and a bunch of buggies, killing them alll. It then lost its last wound moving through the wreckage of its victims. Karma?
Cheers,
Paul.

Yesterday I was playing a megabattle with my CSM.
Everything was going great until someone dropped a giant cluster of 9 War Walkers via deepstrike right infront of my army, and even better when it was revealed they were each seperate units and fired twice for 12 shots at S6 each.
Needless to say, I lol'd.

3 way battle w/ me and my 2 friends with IG (5th ed.) and 'nids (4th ed, just 10 days before 5th). Carnifex attacks the IG platoon leader's squad first, and he is the only survivor. For the next 4 turns, the carnifex is always 1 inch too close, slowly mulching guardsmen, for the platoon leader to regroup and use his damn close combat weapon. Turn 5 he finally flees the board. We refer to him as "Sgt. Runaway" now.

Back in the beginning of 3rd (or was it end of 2nd???) played a team game my Eldar w/ a friends orks versus two players of marines. It was a great bloody affair with almost nothing left heading into the last turn. My avatar (with 1 wound left) & the Orks Boss were within combat range, and my partner urged me to just take the win as we had more points. But would the living incarnation of a god just stop? Of course not. Tore open the pred. and in the resulting explosion failed my saves and my avatar died soon followed by a number of the Boss's command squad as well. When the points totaled up, that last move turned a victory into a draw. Still worth it.

If we're doing amusing and improbably dice luck, in R1, game 1 of the Ard Boyz this year, I charged a squad of 8 lesser daemons into Sammael on his jetbike. Sammael whupped them in the first round, killing most of the unit between straight wounds and No Retreat. The second round I lost all but one. The third round nothing. The fourth round, he charged in a dreadnought to help out, and for some free movement for the Dread. That one last lesser daemon held up Sammael and the Dreadnought for two or three full turns. Misses, failures to wounds, and 5++ saves abounded. World's toughest summoned lesser daemon!

WFB GT, 2009, 7th edition: Rd1, I'm playing my Skaven 2250. Roll dice, I get first turn. Playing against Warriors of Chaos. I decide, why bother advancing... probably should have.
Movement: I pass, figuring i'm staring at a lot of choppynesss. I should have re-arranged my battle line.
Magic Phase: first spell, double 1's, Grey Seer Dead. Phase over.
Shooting phase: WLC shoots, misfire, spins, shoots straight through screaming bell, fails ward, d6 wounds, rolls a 6. Hits the Plague Furnace, no ward, d6 wounds, rolls a 6. Hits the rat ogre block, kills 3 out of 4 rat ogre's. Panic's the rat ogre's, source of panic, rat ogre's run 13 inches through 2 units of clanrats + their weapon teams, who are now leadership 8, fail all rolls. Fail leadership check for the screaming bell unit. EVERYTHING runs, clanrats hit slaves, they run... blah blah.
Total game time including set up: less then 15 minutes.
The only think left is a 200 pt unit of plague monks and a warp lightning cannon. My opponents response
"Thanks for letting me roll a dice!" Priceless. My opponent rolled 1 dice, not including magic dice and never moved a model.
My response: "I'd really like a beer right now, i'm buying what would you like." My opponents response "i'll buy you the beer, you buy me a shot. We'll split a appetizer." He was a good chap, we laughed for 2 hours.

Playing in an Apocalypse battle at a local shop (Miniature Market).
It was a custom scenario, and there was a generator in front of some walls that the Imperials were defending (we were playing Nids). While this thing was in place, the Imperials in range of it got an Invulnerable save (or something).
It was an objective for us, though. We needed to blow it up.
Every Penetrating hit removed a structure point, and I think it had 4 or 5. The first pen hit after the structure points were gone blew it up in an apocalyptic explosion.
So, I waltzed up my scythed heirodule (or, was it barbed? Ah, well... the one with the 2 scything talons and the big guns) and unleashed like 16, 18 or 20 shots @S10 (forget if each gun has 8,9 or 10 shots).
I hit on all of them but, like, 4 and ended up with 8 penetrating hits.
In the aftermath, there was a section of table with a 15" radius where there was almost nothing.
I took out walls, terrain features... it was crazy. Two guys lost most of their armies to my opening salvo from one model.
I didn't laugh because it was humorous to me, so much as out of amazement at what one model caused with it's shooting attacks.
