I've found a head i would quite like for a squad of SM's that im going to make after my exams. its the Slit face of the Khorne Berzerkers, with the bunny ears chopped and and smoothed.

is there a way to Cast the heads in Greenstuff? (or any heads for that matter) or does it require more advanced forms of casting?I've tried a google search, with no results on casting heads, just flat surfaces.

thanks

you probably will loose some details, but you can still try this:

press the head into a ball of gs(bout half way)

wait for the gs to dry completely(24 hours at least)
take another ball of gs and press the other half of the head into the gs(with the gs from step one still on the head)

when thats dry as well take the head out, put some sort of oil(check your kitchen) into the mold and then another piece of gs and press it together.

now wait until you are sure that the gs has hardened and carefully remove the mold parts.

that way i made meltaguns and sw icons for my tanks

pic of what i made:

Its called greenstuff casting. Here is a step by step guide.

1. Get 25mm square bases, and fill the hollow bottom with greenstuff, and smooth it out do it is level with the sides.
2. COVER both the greenstuff and the item you want to cast with olive oil, and push it halfway into one of the moulds, then push the other down on top.
3.(option but VERY handy) Wait for it dry, and drill holes in each of the four corners all the way through, then cut the pints off four pins (these will be near the end)
4.Remove the object from the now dry mould, and put more olive oil over the mould again.
5. Put greenstuff into the mould, put the pins from ealier into each other four corners of one of the moulds, put the greenstuff in that one
6. The pins help to line the mould up, reducing the chance of getting something aweful looking from the mould, and push the other half of the mould down firmly, make sure all the pins are through and lined up
7. Wait for the greenstuff to dry, once this is done, remove it and clean it up with a file and knife.

Simplez! as a wise meerkat once said. Doent give great detail, but its cheap and easy. I use it to make lasguns, and they look perfectly fine, just be sure to not use too much GS in the last few stages, as this can spoil the cast,
and make it noticebly bigger or smaller

Of course, you'd only do any of this on stuff that you yourself have designed and sculpted, right?
