Very impressive. Only thing that looks a little off IMO is the heads either side of the lion. Looks a little crowded. Think it would look awesome with just the lions head. Although this could just be the angle of photo

Personally i think that may be the photo but the goats head is the weakest of the the three it looks out of place.

It's an unnatural creature, an abomination, of course it looks asymmetrical and mismatched. I think it's the best miniature of that particular creature ever made.

Aren't Chimeras supposed to have a Snake for a tail? It's Manticores that have the Scorpion tail I believe. Otherwise those heads are Super well done and I agree, it's probably the best looking one I've ever seen, with a paint job to match.

Looks like a dragon to me.

However that minature is very impressive! I think it may be a bit big for WHFB scale models but it'd be good using it as a manticore, and leaving the other two heads out.

I've been looking at the rest of the range.
Never spotted that they did a Hell Pit Abomination and Vermin Lord!

That Chimera is awesome. I might have to look into picking one of those up.

I have to agree with most. As phenomenal as sculpting is, the goat and croc heads do look a bit 'tacked on'. Amazing stuff though, really amazing. I wish I had just a tiny percentange of their sculptor's (and painter's) skill.

If this beast looks like a Forge World sculpt, that's because a Forge World sculptor sculpted it:
Daniel Cockersell http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Designers/Daniel-Cockersell.html has done all the Greater Daemons, the Ork Squiggoths and the Kroot Knarlocs!
Best sculpt so far by Maelstrom, even when I have no use for a Chimera.

Really nice. Rather steep price (£99.99) though.

Could be converted into a really nice Manticore (although IMHO the Raging Heroes one is better).

Interesting to compare them - as they show typical signs of how they were sculpted. The Cockersell one with better texture (fur) and the computer generated one with a more dynamic pose (but lacking surface detail).

Wow, that thing is amazing! I wouldn't use it as a replacement for a Manticore considering the Raging Heroes option is also fantastic, less expensive, and the right size for a mount.

Now... that Abomination is phenomenal! I think the giant ratman is very nice as well, but that three-face ratbeast is gorgeous!

Outstanding model! But just way too spendy at GBP99 for me to even consider.

The Chimeara's shoulders need to be bigger to compensate for the heads. But I won't complain, I like the model.

That four legged rat thingy looks horrible. Was any thought put into that thing?

The standing rat creature looks pretty cool but could use a lot more detail for the size in comes in IMO.

Maybe they should have been plastic to lower the cost?

Horrible? Really? That is the best Hellpit Abomination stand-in model I've seen, including scratch builds I've seen. At 50 pounds it's a bit spendy, but it would not surprise me if it looks better than the GW one on its way.

I like the chimera's dragon head being a bit croc-ish. It still looks more dragon than croc to me, but it loses a bit of elegance in the process- which is how to my mind a chimera should be. It makes the chimera look all the more brutish and violent.

I haven't liked the maelstrom sculpts to date but this certainly seems to have elevated the bar somewhat.

Really like it. Certainly don't like the pricetag.

I agree. £99 is taking the piss somewhat for a 13cm model when a baneblade is a whopping 22 X 14 cm for only £60!

Nice sculpt
Traditionally it was a goat and a lion conjoined with a serpent for a tail. It does look a bit too much like the dragon head was stuck on as an afterthought.
Again, could just be the camera angle.

Damn that is an impressive model.

Maelstrom monsters are a great range, and if Beastmen were even remotely competative as an army I'd buy them...
