ok...independant characters can join units. Can they join a monstrous creature? Specifically, can a parasite of mortrex(independent) join Old one eye(monstrous)? Can sanguinary guard (independant) join mephiston? (ok not monstrous but wondering). Had a judge tell me today that independant characters can't join monstrous...but I can't find that in the rulebook.

Also, can monstrous creatues join one another? Can a bloodthirster join a Great unclean one? I can't find this one either...I thought someone once said thay could, but again I'd like a rulebook or codex reference.

IC can join any unit that can be more then one model (or another IC)

So a normal carnifex - yes. One eye? No.

so yeah they're right, as long as the unit has a possibility of being more than one model (so like carnifexes have the possibility of three) then the character can join them
wraithlords cannot be joined, because the possible unit size is one no matter what
