Courageous Questing Knight

Bretonnian outlanders are considered peasant, however, mostly they've more wealth then the average knight, trading with nearby empire townships, and if the chance arises, any range of peaceful nations.
due to their being peasants, they can be called up as if simple serfs, but unlike peasantries, or even mounted yeomen, they're able to afford more pricey gear, making for them to be armed like a knight, if less effective.

So pretty much poor man's Questing Knights? I don't get the champion, I guess he's there to accept challenges. In that case make him free (a.la knight champions) but remove that silly +1BS which he cannot use. And what's up with the "formation"?

Mounted polearms seems as bad of an idea as a middle class in brettonian society, let alone a fighting middle class.
Model them up as children, call them young squires, and don't change any of the rules (other than the wonky mounted polearm).

What... is... this? They're like medium cavalry in a list that doesn't need them. Plus the fluff makes very little sense. They're middle class... but they're peasants, who have more money than the nobility? Not that the idea can't work, but you should just call them middle class financiers or something... but honestly I doubt any merchant would want to sully themselves with fighting. And aren't the "unknighted nobles" of Bretonnia the Knights Errant, who own no real land or property, much less watch over it? And I'm not even sure a medieval society has room for a strictly-wage-earning middle class, what with the whole feudal system. I'd suggest just straight up Mercenary Heavy Cavalry for the fluff, honestly, but Matt's suggestion isn't bad either. Merchant Ideals is, to me, an odd rule, (And please please PLEASE don't try to explain why it's there, I know why) but, meh, it's part of the fluff I suppose.

Some people play to win, some people play for fun. Me? I play to kill toy soldiers.

How do you use a halberd from the back of a horse?

on horseback it's a mounted spear. I'm afraid I forgot to give them bows, hence the +1 BS.

So why don't you just give them spears? There are rules for their use from horseback...

Fair enough. that'd be a good idea. They were supposed to be land-based to begin, but then I realised if I priced them for even three pts for horses, they'd be more then yeomen and kinda bad.
