So Lootas seem to be a pretty popular unit with a lot of Ork players but I can't ever remember seeing anyone field them with any meks. The main reason for this, I assume, is because they are less use than another loota in the role that they fulfil. At least that's the reason I don't use one in there.

What I wondered if anyone does actually use them and is there a way they can be used that makes them preferable to just a pure loota squad? Say maybe keeping them in a battlewagon and using the mek to help keep it in shape?

Simple answer: No they are just worthless = on less Deffgun.

The "best" I have seen used for a Mek is to take a 1 or 2 of and placed within proximity to a Battlewagon in a static gunline. A Mek that is not near something that needs a repair is a poorly deployed. Either in a BW (in which case I like him with some burna boyz) or apart of said gunline. In either case, I'm a bigger fan of him taking a Big Shoota than that Kustom blaster thingie as the volume of ork fire is what makes orks good. A 1in3 shot with 1in6 chance to shoot its head off is not good odds to me at all.
