@Formosa, I've only ever read that on forums. Do you know the source where I can read it for myself? I really like the explanation, but I mentioned it to a GW employee. I'm sure I heard "noob" as I walked out the door.

We know he is ancient and has been around for nearly as long as humanity. Fluff, even from Lexicanum, states that only he himself knows or remembers. A prevailing theory, heralded as official canon, is that he was 'formed' by the sacrifice of ancient human shamans. Though there is little solid fluff to support this. (And yes, I have read the damn link, and no, it's nowhere near concrete).

For all we know he was simply born to a mortal family, in a mortal manner, yet he was gifted with immense powers, and very possibly one of the first human psykers.

Waiting for my shill money from Spiral Arm Studios

The only real explaination is the Shamen theory.

Humans had a high percentage of Psykers, these were the various Tribe leaders for 1ks of years. they would die and be reborn into new bodies.

the Warp began to be turbulant and Shamens began to stop being reborn as they were eaten by Deamons.

all the Shamens got together and commited suicide so they would be reborn into one body.

this became the Emperor.

it's also why Humanity didin't have any psykers.

It has been said before that some Eldar souls were, instead of being reborn as Eldar, were being reborn as Humans. this could be why humanity has Psykers now, the Emperor has all the Psychic potential of his race so there is no other way for new psykers to emerge. possably it is the Emperor who is stealing these Eldar souls and putting them into Humans.

If he was around so early it begs the question how come so much was lost in the Age of Strife? Surely a man with the intelligence, psychic might and forethought such as him should have been stockpiling the ability to build the wonderful things that humanity could achieve?

I was under the impression that it was one explanation, not an affirmation of his actual story.

It would have been hard for the Emperor to forsee the fall of the Eldar Empire, although I have a sneaking suspicions that he had taken some measures of preperation, namely the STC's. Without them humanity would have long since been lost to the dark.

It is the actual background for the Emperor, with some hints in the Horus Heresy Series, I forget which novel it is now but I recall Horus knowing about the Emperor's birth place as Anatolia.

For the record though, the Emperor, or rather the New Man, was born to human parents and for a time lived an ordinary human life until He began to recall all of the memories of the Shamen, from whom His soul was created and thus, having a soul which is the constituent of thousands of ancient psykers (the Shamen had been reincarnating for millions of years and retained all of their knowledge) the New Man became and was the most powerful human psyker to have ever existed.

The New Man did foresee the Age of Strife and the birth of Slaanesh but even He was unable to succesfully control the way in which Humanity developed. The New Man gave Humanity much technological and scientific knowledge and tried via various means to show Humanity the right path but in the end Humanity developed in ways the New Man could not control. The New Man, by trapping the Dragon on Mars, sowed the seeds of the Mechanicum knowing that they would preserve Humanity's technological knowledge for later use. When the nascent Slaanesh brought about the Age of Strife the New Man also used that time to prepare for the Great Crusade, eventually taking on the mantle of Emperor and uniting Earth and eventually the Sol System.

I have no evidence to support these theory's but oh well...

He was really a bunny that fell into the warp and turned into a man and then did all of the uniting stuff...

He's really a god that came down to earth...

He's President lincon...
