So, my local GW store is going to start up a pre-heresy campaign. Unfortunately, my SM chapter is... well, let's say.... a product of the 41st millennium.
So, instead of going pre-heresy SM like everyone else and their grandmas, I wanted to go with one of the many extinct/virtually extinct alien races.
Also, I want something that crushes SM! MUHAHA....
What I've come up with is:
- Space Rats. Using imperial guard codex with Skaven.
- Slann. Using the lizardmen from whfb with maybe the demon codex.... or something more creative....
Your ideas:
- Laeran. As... I'm not sure...
- Interex. Maybe as Tao or IG?
- MegArachnids. As Tyranids.
- nothing
So, any ideas? Help with mine? Creative solutions?
Thanks!

Orks were around then. So were Eldar and Dark Eldar. Deamons used as deamons may be used, I'd think. And Imperial Guard as resisting planets makes sense. Tau for the more advanced civilisations that resisted is also a possibility.

Their deep striking could be construed as tunneling. Their models would be easy enough to convert to make into the different daemon classes and they have some engines that could be used as a soul grinder.

I'm with you on the tunnelling and sould grinder engines. But deamons are individually far too powerful (even allowing Rat Ogres as bloodcrushers of some sort) if you're going to compare them to the Skaven footsoldier.

Laers are the inhabitants of a planet conquered by Fulgrim if I remember correctly.
Also, Slann would fit the Daemon profile perfectly. The Mage Priest could be Fateweaver, and his "disappearing" effect could be considered his guards dragging him off the battle field. Kroxigors can be Bloodcrushers, Stegadons can serve as Soul Grinders, and Carnosaur-riding heroes can be Daemon Princes. Skink Shamans can also serve as Flamers, while normal Skinks serve as Horrors (with blowdarts to use as count-as warpfire), and the Invul Save being explained as the Slann's doing.

In the HH novels yes. Also there was a race with very advanced tech (maybe STC) who had suits very much like PA space marines (I believe Angron went medieval on their behinds) ...could use something like this with any marine codex.

I think he's refering to the Interex: http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Interex
They're the ones who beat the MegArchnids and confined them to one planet.

I think you're confussing the Kinebrach for the Interex, but good idea for the figures.

The Interex sound fun to build, but expensive... though... uninteresting to play, since they'd probably just come out as SM.
But good brain storming! Any other ideas from the collective?
