I was just thinking has anyone on Daka ever had a designated character starting at the lowest rank and actually surviving engagements on the TT board while also carrying out amazing feats, thus becoming a idea for one of your created characters climbing threw the ranks threw pure luck? I just was thinking of doing this perhaps fielding a squad of scouts and hoping that they don't all get slaughtered to a man and nominating one survivor and documenting his accomplishments. It just seems very hard to do using normal rules but would seem like your character had earned his/her creation by being lucky , thoughts?

I also had a rune priest pair (Master and apprentice kinda thing) the apprentice survived his master's death and replaced him.

Well Imho, every player kinda has a couple of models he will root for and hope they survive. I myself follow my imperial guard's CCS flamer guy (who already fried a dozen space marines) or an Afrikan-American/black soldier in my powerblob who actually kills things.
However, these characters will die. Depending on the character, the fact that he survives proves that you're playing him wrong. The whole Idea with making him gain ranks etc is also rather hard because a. depending on his position he will die more often, b. you always have to change the model and finaly c. it's just not really fun to root for a unit you know owns like crazy, I like my few guardsmen because you can actualy make fun of the units awesomness when a simple blob soldier stabs the sh** out of a terminator, you can't really be proud when it's the other way around.
In conclusion, the idea is nice and it's worth a try, but I say just keep your mini's and their kill count with out promotions
Hope that helps

The fluff for a daemon hammer is it is gifted to a knight that has slayed a greater daemon, i might follow this piece of fluff. I used to with my old sm captin give him some more wargear whenever he killed somthing twice his points, by now it doesnt happen much, he has to kill 400+ points by himself, he usually gets chomped.

I have a Genestealer named Geoffry that has, to date, killed:
6 Immortals, 1 Destroyer, 1 SM captain, 1 Dreadnought (really lucky with the rending roll). He has since been "evolved" into a broodlord. My own Hive Tyrant is named Gargamel, and has destroyed several other armies (he claims credit for what his swarm does though) but really hasnt gone up in rank. I plan on making him into a Swarm Lord though, since he has never used any of his Biomorphs other than the Bonesword I gave him (I keep forgetting to use their effects).

I had a corporal in a Space Marine tactical squad. He managed to kill a killa kan with his krak grenade, rolling a succession of three sixes. I painted a little explosion on his kneecap to commemorate it. Since then he also killed a Tau battlesuit commander in close combat, which was also pretty cool. He and the sergeant are battle bros.

My GK Justicar held his own in combat against 5 Assault Terminators, downing them left and right... He alone made back his squad's points... He is now shelved, given the name Terminatus, my friends laugh when they see the Thunder hammer and Terminator helmet at the base... Trophies, I try to take what I can from my friend's un-used bitz from those models my unit kills, but only odd, extraordinary ones... Otherwise, my Genestealers would be drowned in a massive piles of skulls.. My friend mounted a Carnifex head on the front of his Rhino, from when it's storm bolter managed a lucky shot, obliterating the brain-matter out the back end of my Carnifexes head, that was a very grim fight for my Tyranids.

There are times my Assault terminator squad biffs every roll they have, leaving only one thunderhammer left to fight. That one guy though, has cleared out half a board by himself, because he refuses to die. He munched through about 30 tactical marines one game, taking over 40 saves, mixed between normal and power before wiping out one last squad and falling to a torrent of bolter fire from the guy's ENTIRE army.
Brother Antillius now holds a special place at lysander's side in combat.
Likewise, My Syren in my Hekatrix Bloodbride unit, and my klavex in my Incubi unit never fail to kill and maim multiple squads. Both, in a single game, as single models, manage to run down multiple guard squads in combat, saving my objective from being taken multiple times, surviving a torrent of fire each time.
Livona (Syren) and Tucido (Klavex) are their names now. Tucido has since gone on to claim Calgar as a kill to add to his tally.

^ More likely a powerfist.
Anyways, in every game something epic usually happens.
One game, one of my captain's was down to 1 wound and then proceeded to pass 18 3+ armour saves in a row from a single Necron shooting phase.
Then there was one dice that we weren't sure if it was actually part of the shooting or not, but I, in my arrogance, rolled it and..
Also, the same Captain a few games ago (promoted to Sicarius for that battle) stood in the middle of 30 Ork Boyz + warboss for about 4 turns when his Terminators had bit the dust in the first round of the combat.
Sure, he didn't kill much, but ah well. He coup de raped the Warboss at one point .
Even when he died, my vendread walked in and using a combination of Plasma cannon, Heavy flamer and stompin' killed roughly 20 boyz in one turn.
In the same game as well, three Ork nobz took out ten Tactical marines in about 2/3 CC phases. Eventually it was just my Sergeant and 1 nob going head-to-head. But I was pretty annoyed at the whole thing, so Mr. Vendread walked in and roflstomped the Nob.
All in all, a rather memorable game considering both our armies were pretty heavily depleted by the end of the game. I won 2 objectives to none, however, using my many metal boxes and wrecked metal boxes (and a bastion..) to build a wall around the objectives.
In all honesty, it was Mr. Sic holding up all those boyz for so long and the vendread saving the day by killing a ton of orks that won the game.

I had an Imperial Guard trooper (everyone else in his squad had been killed) who managed to kill 2 chaos space marines in CC and survive, he then managed to kill two chaos terminators with a rapid firing lasgun, before managing to kill the third in CC. I made him a banner with 'Larry the Destroyer' written on it and 'promoted him' by giving him a chainsword and pistol, but he still has his trusty lasgun holstered on his back. After that he seemed to die a lot more, although his greatest feat ever was taking on a chaos terminator lord in CC, he inflicted one wound before his head was cleaved from his shoulders and his whole squad was butchered. Not so lucky.
