More new metal add ons for the undead

This week sees the the release of three brand-new box-sets for our Undead range.

First up, in addition to the Zombie Regiment, we have released a new set which contains everything you get in our current zombie box, plus additional metal components to make a full command, and add even greater variety to the unit.

We know that 30 Zombies in a box is good, but 30 Zombies in a box with full command is better. They are up for pre-order now. Get them while they're rot!

The next two releases are for our Ghouls. The Ghoul Troop has been one of our most popular sets to date, so popular in fact that we have sold out of all the packaging we had produced!

We have decided to take this opportunity to re-release the Ghouls in a new 20-man Regiment, so you get more Ghouls for you money than ever before! This set is being released on the 21st of January, so get yours on order now!

To celebrate, as a limited-edition set we are also releasing the Ghoul Regiment with a Ghast (leader conversion figure) - adding more death and mayhem to the front rank of your Ghoul hordes!

Those are nice. I still like the GW zombies more though... They seem to have more character then these guys. These are just generic...

Dude don't insult Bob Naismith. That man is a legend. The zombies are pretty sweet and have way more character and personality than the GW ones. : )

He may be a legend, but that doesn't mean he's immune to criticism. He also did the rather shoddy Starship Troopers Mobile Infantry.

I'll agree that the gw zombies have more character, but the mantic ones are actually better sculpted, the gw ones are heroic scale to the max!

I really like the ghast and plan on picking one up, but I'm disappointed they named it exactly the same as gw. Cmon mantic, you have your own rules now, you don't have to copy everything!

Care to expand on that comment? I know taste is subjective, but I think those models are lovely and technically comparable to any line infantry kits made by GW. I also think the proportions are better.

What do you dislike about these sculpts?

What's to like about them?

Zombie Champion just looks plain awkward. Yes, I know they are revenants so shouldn't like entirely comfortable, but come on... I HAS A SCYTHE AND I HAS A DAGGER LULZ! is just terrible.

Banner looks like it's tripped up. The horn is mahoosive, and looks daft on the model.

Plus, the way their sculpted, I'd have expected the Ghast to look like Michael Jackson so he can lead them all in 'Thriller'.

Seriously not a fan of Mantics stuff. I know GW are hardly the most original company our there, but this stuff is purely derivative, like the sweepings of the GW Studio floor.

Also, worth noting that the Command don't even resemble the units they are mean to lead. Sure, they should stand out, but they shouldn't look like they're from a whole other range.

Actually, I believe GW stole this from Dungeons and Dragons.

While I agree these were done the wrong way, I feel that commanders of lesser undead should look distinctly different. There should be no such thing as a zombie leader, for instance, unless your zombies are more intelligent than are commonly portrayed. Your only choice is to put some form of intelligent undead in command, as GW used to do for theirs.

These are quite nice. The Ghast is way better than the GW one.

I don't really get how a zombie command group works, and those guys aren't quite in the same league as the ghast, but they're alright. The horn is odd just because it looks like there's no way to blow it that will also project the sound ahead of you, and the standard overlapping the base could be a problem. But their standard is way better than the GW zombie standard (really GW? The zombies take a break from eating brains to tie human hands to the end of a cross?), and the mantic horn doesn't look to be that much bigger than the many GW horns I've seen.

I think the mantic zombies actually have quite a bit more personality than the GW ones. The GW ones appear to just have slightly sharper detail, but I don't like them ranked up as well as the mantic zombies. The mantic ones look like a proper shambling horde.

GW's zombies, while having more construction options, are simply showing their age big time. Mantic has a better quality, sharper detail and made the models easier to rank up, but at the cost of three models per sprue, meaning not a lot of diversity between models. That said, I like both companies plastic undead equally.

Although I'm not a big fan of zombies period. I must say I haven't yet seen a cmpany able to sculpt them reasonably at this scale.

Zombies, should be something edgy, scary, and above all else repulsive....like something from Evil Dead, you know! but instead I get comic proportions, comedy poses, and awkward detailing.

I think Mantic has a long way to go before they can compete with GW on this lot, yes their cheap, but what good is cheap if the quality isn't there, you may as well buy cardboard cutouts and use those.

Man down, Man down....
