My diorama represents an Imperial Guard scout patrol in a hostile desert area occupied by Orks, the Killa Kan is completely scratch build.

It's a good early try. The base shape is a bit uneasy on the eyes since it's so narrow it becomes crowded. The material used for the road has quite unsightly edges, that could easily be hidden with careful work.

The supply does not get to make the demands.

I'll keep that in mind next time.., though it was the only material I had at the time

What's the narrative of this diorama? Did the sentinel come across the kan and destroy it? Or was the kan destroyed previously in another skirmish?

It's cool, reminds me of the work of Ashley Wood, one of my favourite illustrators:

Watch out for those gun barrels though! Hobby drill time.
Also I was wondering if it might pop a bit more if you painted the edges of the base a different colour. It might help cover up the texture of the road material as well. Black?

That's foamboard, I think? Personally I think it adds a layered look to the road. Almost like it's showing the build up to the road surface.

Seems almost like I'm trying to jump to the OP's defence, but just my two pennies really. Whilst I agree that the autocannon should be drilled, the lasguns wouldn't have holes in them. Technically they would be jammed up with some sort of solid high tech fibre optic tubing.

Yeah. Or that's my thinking, anyway. Being that they're lasers.

Something about the hand looks strange. Much better than I can do though. The Sentinel looks awesome.

On the whole, good job!

The ork dreadnought looks a bit too home made, but the diorama is good overall!

LOVES:
The way the diorama looks like a world that is actually lived in. Little details like the guard rail, the sign, and the strewn barrel/cans give the diorama the (IMHO very rare) impression that this is not just an arbitrary and pointless battle, but a patrol where people are actually fighting for something. And I especially like the way you've divided your color scheme, so the guard side has lots of greens and the ork side has lots of reds without being jarring.

LIKES:
Something about the posture of the Sentinel makes it really look like it has weight. I'm not sure exactly what gives me that feeling, maybe the positioning with the other guardsmen.

The color of the Ork Kan and the "junkiness" of its parts.

WANT TO SEE:
More weathering on the Kan. Something that gives a sense of why it is lying there. Is it damaged? Abandoned? Out of fuel? Is it recently abandoned? Has it been there for weeks?

A bit of repositioning of the parts. The Kan doesn't look heavy in the same way the sentinel does. The legs are perfect, but the gun just kind of sticks out there. Is it in a fixed position?

Overall, a very solid job.

Love the colors that were used. I think the killa kan could used some more battle damage though. The road scene looks great!

I think it's an interesting idea, but the composition could be better. When I look at it, there is no story that jumps out at me. You said that the sentinal destroyed the ork vehicle but the sentinal isn't pointed at the ork vehicle and it doesn't seem like the ork kan has any battle damage. Right now, everything is lined up looking off the board. Why not angle the sentinal so that it's looking at the damaged kan it just killed, with the guardsman off to the side, but inspecting the same kan?

I really like it but would second the call for more battle damage on the Kan - nothing Orky would fall over without a fight!

Scuffs, gouges and burns in the ground would go a long way towards this - it'd be cool to see a grot arm or something sticking out from under the Kan's bulk.
