A guy at my local GW did his whole Praetorian army over a few days with little to no sleep... Why was he so industrious? Because his attitude was essentially "ZOMG ZOMG PRAETORIANS! MUST PAINT!"

The closest I've gotten to this is with the Eldar army I am currently working on. I'd say it's around 80% complete and about 65% was done in just a couple of nights... Although nowhere near as big as my friend's army, it was unusual for me to paint so much and not get bored...

Though I must say there is a difference between painting for long periods of time (One Ranger I did took 6 hours) and productivity (the latest one I'm working on which is nearly finished has only taken 1.5 hours so far).

Anyhoo, what were your "feats of glory", Dakka? When were you so motivated that you managed to pull off seemingly superhuman (in your eyes) spouts of productivity with your painting?

Ofc perhaps to some painting isn't a chore

Well, I have never managed more than one squad in a 5 day period, because I am such a slow painter. It takes me 2-3 hours to paint each Imperial Guardsman from start to finish.

I can feel your pain with that one...

Why on Earth is my most numerous army also the one that takes the longest per-figure? ¬_¬

I pretty much have to get the "Painter's Bug".

Won't touch my models until I decide to paint them, and then I will sit down and paint for a good couple of days non stop.

When my brother came home from deployment, for instance, I went from a partially assembled, unpainted force to a fully armed and opperational battle station.

When I used to not know the wonders of undercoats and washes, I was able to finish a Firewarrior in ten to fifteen minutes, and maybe do ten to twelve more before the repetition got to me. I'm still surprised that those old products still look decent when standing next to the newer ones.

Before I did stuff like this: undercoats and washes. I managed to do a 3K Space marine forth in a week and a half (with school for 6hours a day as well)

When i cared little for advancing my skill, I managed to unload 100 clan rats, 20 plague monks, a doom wheel, that silly Bell contraption,a few special characters, and a verminlord of a Skaven Army over the course of my Spring Break (week and a half)
Now that I am more practiced and patient, and deliberate with my painting, it takes me about a week (total time added together, ave 4hrs a day) to paint a ten man squad.... in actual time that is like a month though, married and two kids takes with wind outta your sails! lol

Hard to say. But recently, between summer and winter term, I painted a DoA army:

I painted each and every one of the Space Hulk (new) termies in about a week. To the absolute best of my abilities.

In under an hour, I can bang out multiple 'a bit better than tabletop standard' models. I have done 8 orks in 45 minutes, with every tiny detail... (including washes and yellow armor etc.)

Local tournie offered extra kill points for any army that was completely painted and floxed...a minimum of 3 colors to be considered fully painted. So I painted an 1850 point daemon army in under a week.

Then showed up to the tournie and not enough people were there for it to happen..lol.

I promised to paint for my son the Ork Army I have been assembling for him. I just ran out of time... finally he reminded me that I promised to paint his army (it had been primered green, but I had to switch it to black primer) and base it "like dads"

...no way I could let that little guy down. So at 8PM I sat down in my office and did 2 massive 8 hour sessions.

-32 Boyz
-10 Nobz
-3 Ork AoBR Warbosses proxy'd as Meganobs.
-5 Deffcopta's
-1 Honkin' Huge Metal Nightmare to build and paint, G. Thraka.

I started on Dec 23rd, Finished on Dec 25th.

Soo.... yeah. I know it isn't the best paint job, but not bad for only 2 days work for 2000 pts.

2 days work for 2000 pts.... some examples.

I think the most was a bunch of scarab bases in one sitting. But honestly nothing big I paint way too intermittenly.

But this winter break is going to be dedicated to painting.

I paint at work and since I work 8 days in a row...I usually get 1-4 hours in a night if I'm trying. I guess the most I've done was 3 squads of cadian infantry plus a home-made objective marker from my sentinel bits.

I paint very slowly. I normally take about 2 hours to completely finish a model.

As far as length of time, I spent 8 hours in the gaming shop on mother's day and completely lost track of time. That's when I knew that I was in love with painting minis and this might not be one of those obsessive for a minute hobbies, but something I truly enjoy.

painted: 12 dryads,9 glade guard,2 glade guard scouts.
assembled but unpainted: 2 glade guard and the lord's bowman, 8 glade guard scouts, sexy elf lord
in the box: , 8 glade riders, , one female spellsinger, Orion, Ariel, the faerie queen. SOB immolator, 15 sisters.
