Not really sure if this ever left but here it is on the advance orders. I had hoped for more new items but DA players rejoice.

They didn't do something sneaky like change it to 1 sprue instead of 2 did they? I was planning to buy some more so I can either make an all robed DA force or some pre-heresy thousand sons for the GK codex.

Wow, I was about to make fun of you guys since I thought you needed 2 to get 5 dude but I read the description first and that's pretty sweet as long as you have the extra special weapons and ccw/bp arms (if you even need them) and bases. I'm inclined to pick up a few too since the box set is $24.75.

It even says in that very link...

The weird part is that this sprue never went anywhere. It never stopped being on sale. Other than now being sold as a single sprue (rather than 2 sprues), I don't know why they're doing this.

And, for all of us in Australia, it's AUD$22. It's currently AUD$13 if we get it from GWUS or AUD$12.50 if we get it from GWUK. GW pricing strikes again!!!

You used to get two for $20, now it's one for $13.25.

If you try to add the $20 item to your cart, then go to your cart you'll see it's not really there as a detailed item you can actually buy. In other words, this is a price hike on an existing bits pack from 2 frames for $20 to 1 frame for $13.25.

GW keeping nerds broke virgins since 1995. It would be nice if we could call a worldwide boycott on 1st party GW sales for just one month. Just buy all your stuff from independent retailers. They get to charge whatever they want and people keep buying because Warhammer kicks so much ass. I am usually happy to pay up for my fix, but lately, I have been weighing the cost versus other things I'd like to have and GW is getting my middle finger when it comes to a new army. I have been wanting to get into fantasy for a few years now....but I bought a plasma screen instead. Thought about getting a Dark Eldar army....bought an ipad and a new laptop instead. You have to spend $1,000 to own a worthwhile army these days. Prices have gone from cheap to reasonable to feasable to outrageous to regodamndiculous and climbing. I am still going to be first in line when the Stormraven comes out and it will probably cost $90. It's a seller's market and Warhammer is more expensive than crack and arguably just as addictive.

I am The Fury. The flames of my rage will incinerate you. I came back from space. As I returned, I had one vision. The world set ablaze. And do you know what I saw there? (he aims his flamethrower upwards and incinerates a group of bats) Fury! A great and terrible Fury at being alive. Now you're going to feel the scorching heat of that horrible blackness.

Honestly ebay bits stores are your best bet if you really want deals on those.

Listen, my children, as I pass onto you the truth behind Willy Wonka and his factory. For every wonka bar ever created in existance, Mr. Wonka sacraficed a single Oompa Loompa to the god of chocolate, Hearshys. Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House!

Quite a bit longer then that, actually.

Flatly untrue. I'd like to see what you consider a "requirement" for an army. I'd say you could probably build an effective 1500 point army from any faction for less then $250 if you use ebay and trade a little. Even without doing so, I just priced Age of Ego's 2000 point space marine army at $520 on Amazon or the Warstore.

Actually that was the Veterans box, which came with bases and the specials weapons sprue from the Tacticals box. We used to have the upgrade sprue for either £12 or £15 (direct only) with two sets of sprues in it as well as the Veterans box.

Guess I got mine at the right time. Mine arrived about a week ago, $20 for the 2 sprue pack, free shipping from GW. I combined it with a CSM tac squad from ebay and some extra bases I already had...now Ive got 10 robed CSM and 10 normal CSM. Total cost $50.75...not including the bases I already had.

Sure, the normal CSM are sporting the DA vet backpacks...but they are chaos, they do what they want. The robed CSM have the chaos packs and WHFB chaos warriors helmets.

Ahh, yes. The Same Suggestion Since 1996. Maybe try to hook up with the gasoline boycotters?

The fact is that most of us will keep buying our plastic crack, and as we do, GW will continue on raising prices. If you like the hobby, keep buying. If not, there's no call to complain about it, especially when it's off-topic in a thread.

shame, that was a great way to get a handful of robed marines. Though I must also agree with Lorek, most people will continue to buy GW items even though GW will raise prices every year. I personally am just glad the quality of the plastic models is starting to increase. Would be nice if they could get a handle on the mold lines though

The Dark Angels Veteran Marines box set is still available and costs $24.75 US. Unlike the "Upgrade Sprue" deal, the box set comes with bases as well as I believe a Tactical Space Marine Upgrade sprue, but it is significantly more expensive than just buying the Upgrade Sprue by itself. When the deal was 2 Upgrade Sprues for $20 that was indeed a pretty good deal. I remember when it first appeared in the GW web store a few years ago, there was some excitement over it at the store when people discovered it since there were basically 10 Space Marines in the bag for $20.

I think they're still a pretty good deal. The BT upgrade sprue is probably a little better, since it comes with some nice assault weapons (which this one doesn't)....But this one comes with terminator legs...Which are worth the 13.25 alone

I love buying these and then trading the pieces around with my friends. I traded a friend the robed torsos for a blister of five meltaguns :3

The BT one doesn't come with enough pieces to build even a single Marine. It's a 'conversion sprue' in the purest sense. The Dark Angel one actually contains whole Marines.
