Blessing of the Chaos Gods

Declare: Beginning of one of your side's turns.

During this turn's assault phase, each Aspiring Champion in your army will fight in close combat with the statline of a chaos lord, although with just 1 wound, and counts as being equipped with a daemon weapon instead of their normal wargear. The type of daemon weapon is determined by the mark the model bears at the time of use [ie a Noisemarine Champion or champion of a squad with a Slaanesh icon will have a Blissgiver. Unmarked squads or squads whose icon has been destroyed will be undivided, so on]. If they roll a 1 for their attacks, just remove the model - the wound caused by the weapon is enough to kill them.

During the user's next turn, he may fire an orbital bombardment. S8 Ap3 like a normal bombardment, with an Apocalyptic Barrage strength [number of templates] equal to the number of champions that died due to rebelling daemon weapons the turn before - their sacrifice powers the energy of the chaos gods!

Trying to think of a chaos-specific asset that just does something GOOD for them, rather than causing some sort of severe penalty when it's used! It's declared at the start of the turn to allow the opponent to remove casualties from shooting and/or use rules like Combat Tactics or NOT use leadership-boosting rules to allow them to fall back from shooting casualties and avoid close combat if they wish, since they know what's coming.

My only worry with the balance of this is really if someone tries taking an all-AC terminator squad. I mean a charge of a big terminator squad is pretty much going to kill whatever it charges anyway, so it's not like it's doing something the squad can't already do - and such a squad is expensive. Still though, I'm toying with perhaps making it automatically kill every aspiring champion that uses it. This could potentially make the orbital bombardment hit MANY times, but it's still just in one area - the problem mainly though is that it would take forever to resolve, since they're supposed to land one at a time.

Maybe keep it that only those that die to the daemon weapon rolling a 1 get to contribute to the bombardment as sacrifices, the rest just die in berserk rages? This means sure you can make an all termie AC unit that's death incarnate, but you'll lose the entire unit in the trade-off and against anything big enough to warrant the points cost of all those terminators, you'd probably wish you still had your chainfists rather than daemon weapons!

What if they're all killed before they can even attack? For example, a unit of 10 AC khorne terminators get furiously charged by Ragnar with 20 attacks due to his sage and gets wiped out before they can even strike. Does that then count towards their orbital bombardment?

Also, just having every AC fight like a lord is a little too powerful IMO. I'm thinking you nominate 1 HQ choice. Then any AC within 24" of him (if he's still alive) would be affected by this asset (similar to those of the Chaos Daemon assets in Apoc Reload).

I guess not, at the rule states that it's every champion that died from a rebelling daemon weapon that counts.

I finf the rule very cool, and will make the chaos army sick in combat for 1 turn.

If I use -><- I'm not mocking you, it's a reflex from using the " silly" icon on every other forum.
However, if I use this -><- I might just mock you.

Yeah only those sacrificed by daemon weapons count. And really it's not that bad. How often in apoc will you really be getting all that many champions in cc on the same turn? Is it really that bad? And they still can't hurt tanks or dreads at all, the highest strength weapon is 5.

Isn't that a bit strong?

Apocalypse has a theme going where pretty much everything that has the effect of the orbital bombardment uses the same S and AP as the Orbital Bombardment. For balance purposes I think it's best to keep that one like that.
