In my opinion, there is no cooler IG regiment than the Death Korps of Krieg. Heartless soldiers ready to sacrifice themselves at a moments notice. I have wanted to collect this army for a very long time now and have finally got some models to bring my dream to life.

They may cost an arm and a leg to collect an army of them but the models themselves are fantastically detailed and some of the best I have ever seen. For those who do not know why resin can produce such detail compared to plastic, it is mostly because resin is produced in a flexible mold whereas plastic is a hard mold, meaning that you can get details in places where plastic can not reach. There, you DO learn something new every day!

OK, enough talk, here are the models that I got over Christmas. They just need a (delicate) slap of paint and they are ready to go.

HQ squad (and a pair of wooden legs in the background for those who noticed!)

Is that a mold line on the sword arm?

This guys antenna was made from a toothbrush fiber and a dot of superglue on top. Talk about detailed...

Engineer squad

Small furry mammal catapult (OK, it's a mole launcher, but mine sounds better.)

And finally, some grenadiers who will be joined by another 10-man squad when I have got the money from a commission I am working on ATM

What a beautiful resin rock

This is the paint scheme that I am going off for now, but I think it will need some adjustments before I get to painting the Korps. A green cloth with a dark tan armour (very battle damaged)

Thats all for now. It may take me a while to get past this point, but keep an eye out for more stuff!

I really like the modelling, the models look awsome. If you work to that standard in paintng they will be great!

Hopefully they will all be painted to that high a standard. I figure that if I only get smallish groups of the guys I will not get sloppy and try to get them all finished too quickly.

I was just looking at the painted guy and I really like the metal chipping detail on the shoulder pads!

Thanks! I just sponged some charadon granite on, gave it lots of brown washes (white basecoat)

This was before the brown washes.

A quick question for anyone who has dealt with resin before. I am trying to get the grenadier heavy flamer tubes to bend in the right places but they are extremely delicate and brittle. Any ideas?

make sure you don't glue the flamer arms on yet, I couldn't get the resin tubes to fit my elysian flamers since I glued the arms on and the resin tube didn't bend in a way that fitted the small hollow section connecting the flamer tank to the flamer.

Those guys look really cool. I'd buy some too but, being FW, they're too expensive. :(

Apologies for not having any real progress to show except some nice washed and cleand korpsmen. I have found a perfect paint scheme for my troops as it is much bolder and cleaner than what others have done (although I certainly have nothing against them, I just wanted a different looking army )

This will be the scheme for my DKoK, it is a little hard to see but he has a beige trench coat with leather inside and bronze armour with a silver highlight. Taken from last months white dwarf, 'eavy metal have done a great job on this model and I wish to recreate it to the best of my ability.

Nice scheme, and yes, Death Korps are the best, but Elysians are pretty cool too.

cleaner, uh? I feel like you ment me here?
I think it's good that there's another DKoK thread and I like the idea of them being clean. I sometimes really hate to make them dirty and muddy. And it's always good to see variations and different colours. I'm not verry impressed when someone tells me they see my army as an inspiration and want to try to do the same. I prefer it when people do their own thing.

Looking at the WD pic, my first thought is, there's a lot of bright colours going on. But let's see how you manage to do this.

Love your models double T! They are one of the main reasons I started my own DKoK army. The WD pic is a bit funny as I had to photocopy it and enhance the colours so it may look a little bright on the page.

I totally agree with you about simply copying an army completely without changing anything, it just seems a little lacking in imagination and creativity.

I really hope to get some korps painted soon, I am trying to finish off the last of my space hulk termies and my Rackham commissions before I get sucked up into yet another project.

Thanks for the positive comments everyone!

Finally! An update!

Afer long and hard thinking I decided to stick with a paint scheme that I have already been using.
Instead of the resin figures being used a dkok, I have chosen to have them as part of my current IG army, the Arctic Foxes. The 'death korps' will simply be troops enlised from the far side of the planet that is rich in minerals (as I thought the korps have a distinct miner look to them)

Anyway, here is the test model all finished

dang that is a sexy model! The details are incredible, I do not feel worthy to paint over it!

And here are some of the other troops who will acompany the korps.

And a couple of group shots of everything so far.

Minor thread-cromancy, but hey, what you gonna do, there is some realy nice stuff in here and it deserves a bump, as do all DKoK threads, 'cos they are Awsome!

Any more updates or are you blogging your new Regiment? I really like your engineer and am also curious to how you did the Valk.

Nice work thus far! I'm interested how your two forces will blend together. As a collector of Vostroyans, I have often pondered how to combine the expensive guard models with the non so expensive guard models with little to no success.

Speaking of your two different forces, I was hoping for an explaination of this fellow and his (maybe)firearm.
