Hey all, first post here and equally of the first marine I painted... He was a nice 'change of blood' to painting flat Tau
The armour and cape were highlighted in 3 stages each (+base of ultramarines blue, ofc.). I'm particularly proud of the helmet, wich was done by layering skull white, codex grey, vomit brown and again skull white and grey shades. I gave the eyes a certain glowing appearance by glazing some goblin green around them, adding skull white every time

That's a really good looking model, you should do something with the base though (if you've already planned to do this than disregard my suggestion haha )

Oh right, forgot to say that, I won't be doing the base untill someone buys it, as to make sure Sicarius can blend in with that person's army theme

Looks Great.

Everything looks great, from the neck down. Right now the helmet looks a little flat, and almost untouched. Maybe some shading in the recesses and highlights on the grill would help out. It also seems like the eyes kinda blend in with it and don't really stand out much. I do like the cape though.

Nice. I love the lenses, but I agree with CrashUSAR that the helmet could use omse shading.

Yea we could all be missing something in the picture, but the helmet does look unfinshed.

I thought that too at first, but you can see some shading and such in a couple pictures if you look hard enough. Im guessing the camera just milked out the details, happens alot really.

As for the helmet, the picture does indeed ruin it a bit, but you made me aware of the fact that the shading is too brownish, too. Going to add a layer of grey shading and some weathering right away!
Update in a few hours



EDIT: I've now added a wash of bleached bone, chaos black and badab black in the recesses. Then I went over it again with a bleached bone and skull white highlight to clean the mistakes
Also added some weathering on the shoulder pad, hands and backpack by painting the edges scorched brown, boltgun metal painted in and highlighted the underside of the scratches. From a distance they're not really visible :p



Oh, and I found the smallest brush ever, produced by Humbrol. On your right, a GW small detail size brush (rather destroyed, i know), on your left the new brush. Respect if you spot the hairs...

I'm not wild about the helmet. The painting on the rest of it is pretty decent, but there's very little shading on the helmet, and it looks like he's crying green tears. Downplay the lights from the eyes a bit, and then do some shading in the recesses of the helmet.

Hmm, I think I'm missing something here. 'Shading' does mean 'applying a darker color tone in the recesses with a wash', right? Maybe it's the just the picture, but I did that 3 times now
I'm calling Sicarius finished now, unless someone spots a very big mistake
Next project: Sculpting a tactical marine in Milliput, legs and feet are curing right now

What is the back of the banner supposed to represent? If it's lightning, it could look a little more jaggety, and if it's supposed to be a tree, it could use some sort of representation of leaves (which would look pretty cool, I'd think).

I felt like doing something elfish :p

The helmet definitely looks more finished now than at first.
