Apologies if I missed the thread on this, but has anyone been able to figure out the base size of the HPA based on the pre-order details/photos?

The FAQ says it is on a chariot sized base, so im guessing it will be on one of those.

According to GW's website, the model is/will be supplied with a 60mm x 100mm base. (Making it roughly 3 rats wide by 5 rats long ; the same size as a Screaming Bell / Plague Furnace / Doom Wheel base I believe.)

Edited for handy dandy link: This set contains one plastic Skaven Hell Pit Abomination and one 60x100mm Monster base.

Too bad they couldn't have told us this earlier; it would have been handy when we were all working on our various custom HPA's.

Mine are both on 50x75s, because they badly overlapped 50x50 Large Monster Bases, which seemed an appropriate starting place.

Just buy a screaming bell base, glue your base on top, and then paint / texture the remaining Bell base the same? It won't be necessarily beautiful, but it should do the trick.

Edit: I agree with you on letting us know though. I think every unit should have an entry for base size, since in Fantasy you're not allowed to use anything but the "official" size anyway.

And since many things don't have models we don't really know the size.

Maybe I am wrong but the screaming bell/plague furnace are 60x100, while the doomwheel is chariot which is 50x100. The very last generation of metal cannons came with a 60x100... the new HPA is 60x100. Further 60x100 is cheaper to buy alone than a choriot base... did they make the HPA 60x100 because they just had more of em?

What they need to do is update and repost the PDF that had the official base sizes for every model in the game.

My current HPA is on a 50x50 because the model looks a lot better on one. Should people raise a stink, I am happy to place another 50x50 behind it to form a faux chariot base - there are pros and cons to the larger base, and the FAQ merely suggests the 60x100, it does not dictate it. I do have a 60x100 HPA that I made late in 7th when the hellpit was much much harder than it is now, but I prefer the original conversion so will be sticking with that, without any rebasing. My 2 cents.

Technically, if you made your custom HPA before they released the official model you could use whatever base you wanted.

i use a 40mm base for my Chaos Warshrine dedicated to Tzeench(looks like an oversized Disc)

an official model will likely be a Chariot sized one.

In 7th, you were allowed to use whatever base size you wanted, as long as it was no smaller than the "suggested" size listed (50x50 for monsters), within reason. But that was when a larger base size had virtually no advantage over a smaller one-the a-bomb being an exception to this-does anyone know if this is still the case?

In the original Skaven FaQ/errata, they "suggested" a 60x100mm base. Just like they "suggested" that the Bell and Furnace have a unit strength of 6. I, however, chose to go with 48,000,000.
