How would I go about magnetizing the weapons/weapon mount of an IG sentinel? Has anyone done this before here?

Here's how I did mine

I used magnets small enough to fit into the mounting hole on the body, and drilled a small hole on the weapon to be mounted.
just watch your polarity!

Where the heck am I supposed to find magnets that small?

If you go to the article I linked, I give sources of magnets, dimensions, and SKU numbers.

Why drill a bigger hole instead of using a magnet that fits inside the preexisting one? Would it not be strong enough to hold the weapon up or what? (I feel stupid. )

i drilled the hole in the weapon, where the plug was that attached the weapon to the body. i drilled it so it would stay longer. the magnets i put in the body section was the same size as the
peg that was supposed to to be on the weapon. weight isn't a problem, unless you use pewter weapons.

Don't get discouraged. magnets are a lot easier than they look. For the size, they are amazingly strong. You just have to be careful, not to mix up the polarities ... they are a pain to get out once they've been fitted to the hole.

What size magnet would fit inside the little weapon mount hole? That side that Ifurita linked to looks pretty awesome, although the sizes are a bit confusing for some reason.

If you have a pin vise, look up the matching sizes in drill bits and you'll have a good visual of how large or small the magnets are. To give you a bit of scale, the larger magnets are about the size of the holes in the top and bottoms of landraider sponsons. For those, I enlarge them a hair, and slot in a magnet on each side. This allows me to use smaller magnets in the posts.

1/8" is the smallest I'd use for anything side mounted. 3/32" holds more securely, but its hard to fit on a lot of models.

You could use a 3/32" in the hull of the vehicle and use 1/8" for the actual weapons.

You can double up magnets for a stronger hold. Drill a deeper hole and put 2 on top of each other.

With Ifurita's approval, I could supply a kit of the magnets he suggests for $3 a kit.

I charge $3 (US & Canada, $4 elsewhere) for postage regardless of the order size.

The magnets come from K&J, so quality is top-notch.
